An enigmatic hero is set to tantalize with his legendary skills in a dystopian version of Korea in Black Knight!
Taking a futuristic concept, Black Knight threads on the premise of an air-polluted world in 2071, where people depend on respirator masks to breathe. Only one percent of the human race has survived and a strict social stratification has been established in the deserted lands of the Korean Peninsula.
In the set fictional world, delivery drivers aka “black knights” play a crucial role within this system, and for refugees, becoming a delivery driver is their only hope for survival.
Amid such chaos, Black Knight flows to the story of a legendary delivery driver named “5-8” with exceptional battle skills and a refugee “Sawol” who dreams of following in his footsteps.
Previously, the first-look still of Kim Woo Bin portraying the legendary deliveryman ‘5-8’ was released in January. It drew massive excitement from fans.
Netflix Decks New Series “Black Knight” Starring Kim Woo Bin, Esom and Kang You Seok
Black Knight emerges as a savior for the last 1% of humanity
In “a world without air”, the deliverymen, also known as the black knights, deliver oxygen and necessities to the 1% of the population who lived through extreme desertification.
Correspondingly, the first teaser poster for Black Knight offers a glimpse into the drama setting, a world completely engulfed in sand. A used oxygen mask lies discarded on a barren landscape, where the ruins of collapsed high-rise buildings loom in the distance with no signs of life.
A figure resembling the legendary deliveryman 5-8 walks away from a massive truck, leaving viewers with a sense of intrigue for the story to unfold.
Headlined by a fantastic ensemble of seasoned actors, Kim Woo Bin plays the legendary deliveryman, a.k.a ‘5-8’ in the series. Song Seung Heon portrays the only heir to the powerful Cheonmyeong Group while Kang You Seok is a boy who dreams of becoming a deliveryman. Lastly, Esom takes the role of the Defense Intelligence Command major.
These characters bring depth and complexity to the narrative, each with unique perspectives and motivations.
Black Knight is set to premiere in the second quarter of 2023 only on Netflix.
