Im Yoon Ah is ready to swap concert stages and modern-day rom-coms for sizzling skillets and royal kitchens in tvN’s highly anticipated weekend drama Bon Appetit, Your Majesty.
The series, directed by Jang Tae-yoo and written by fGRD, serves up a unique mix of survival fantasy, romance, and comedy, telling the story of a top-tier chef from the present who time-slips into the past at the peak of her career—only to find herself entangled with the worst tyrant in history and a king whose palate is so refined it borders on supernatural.
Stepping into the role of Yeon Ji-young, a French-trained culinary genius with an unshakable sense of self, Im Yoon Ah is promising a bold transformation. The actress described working with director Jang Tae-yoo as a long-awaited dream come true, saying she was immediately drawn to the drama’s premise and the magnetic pull of a character who exudes both confidence and heart. “I loved that Yeon Ji-young is charismatic, wise, and always stays true to her opinions rather than letting others steer her path,” she explained.

To bring this award-winning chef to life with authenticity, Im Yoon Ah went beyond script reading and costume fittings—immersing herself in professional culinary training. For three months, she worked closely with real chefs, learning everything from knife handling and plating techniques to the flow of a professional kitchen. She practiced a wide range of skills but took special pride in mastering the flambé, a French cooking technique that involves adding alcohol to a dish and igniting it for dramatic effect. “Flambé was the skill I showed off the most while filming. Learning it made me feel like a real chef—it was thrilling and gave me a huge boost of confidence,” she said.
But the performance wasn’t just about kitchen skills. The time-slip element of Bon Appetit, Your Majesty meant she needed to infuse her portrayal with subtle contrasts between past and present. Im Yoon Ah explained that she added modern flourishes to Yeon Ji-young’s look—sunglasses, patterned scarves, statement earrings—and paired them with a cheerful, assertive tone of speech to capture her contemporary spirit amid the historical setting. “I wanted viewers to instantly sense that this is someone from a completely different time, even without being told,” she noted.
Beyond the time-travel twist and romantic tension, she teased two key reasons viewers should tune in: the meticulously crafted cooking sequences and the layered emotional relationships between the characters. She emphasized that the drama’s visual storytelling—especially the food scenes—will offer a feast for the eyes, while the heartfelt moments will keep audiences deeply invested.
With its blend of mouthwatering culinary artistry, comedic clashes, and tender romance, Bon Appetit, Your Majesty is shaping up to be a fresh and flavorful entry into tvN’s 2025–2026 drama lineup. Fans can catch the premiere on August 23 and watch Im Yoon-ah serve up a performance that’s equal parts spice, sweetness, and star power.
