Undoubtedly one of the runaway K-Drama hits this season, Squid Game has been generating a well-deserved immense following.
Thus, it is no question for its sequel possibility to be raised. After all, the waning scenes of the series suggest the same.
Director Hwang Dong Hyuk finally made the production of season 2 official. Through an interview, Director Hwang, who is staying in Los Angeles, California for the promotion of Squid Game, confirmed the direction of his massive hit series.
“It feels like there is no choice but to proceed with the production,” he said.
He added, “It is currently in the planning stage. It is too early to say when and how season 2 will come out.”
Moreover, he made a promising statement. “Ki-hoon will come back and do something for the world.” This infers that Lee Jung Jae will lead the second season.
With stories cited that can be explored, attention is focused on the role of the recruiter (Gong Yoo) as well as the game frontman (Lee Byung Hun).
It can be recalled that in a CNN interview with PD Hwang in October, he mentioned wanting to expound on the stories of these characters.
Following the success of the first season, if the two aforementioned top actors join the second season, anticipation will heighten even more.
