Seasoned and talented actor, Shin Ha Kyun is set to play a “unique villain” role in Evilive.
Evilive tells the story of a down-to-earth and hardworking lawyer who inevitably gives in to desire and transforms into an elite villain while taking viewers into a gritty world.
In EVILIVE, Han Dong-soo (Shin Ha Kyun) is a hardworking lawyer who randomly selects prisoners to visit and find jobs for himself. Dong-soo’s half-brother, Han Beom-jae (Shin Jae Ha), works at a shop selling second-hand computers. He is also a case broker who introduces clients to his brother.
Beom-jae witnesses the change in the once rational Dong-soo, when he crosses over to the side of evil after taking on a case. The case involves Seo Do-Young (Kim Young Kwang) who is a high-ranked member of a crime organization. Behind his attractive looks, Seo Do-young hides cruelty and unpredictable madness.
Han Dong-soo has a slightly different texture from the villains he has shown in many works. An ordinary person turns into a villain. And this process provides interesting things to see.
“I was first drawn to the novelty of the character Dong-soo. Maybe that’s why it felt new when I first saw the script. In some ways, I thought Dong-soo was a character who evolved, for better or for worse.”
When Dong-soo, an ordinary lawyer, meets Do-yeong (played by Kim Young Kwang), the second-in-command in a criminal organization, he approaches the life of a villain, which is different from the way he has lived so far. The inevitable situation of entering the path of a villain to make a living is expected to be portrayed in an interesting way.
Preparing for his character, Shin asserts wanting to convey the character in an impactful way where the viewers would be convinced of how Dong-soo transitions to a new side of him.
“I thought that although the glasses, bag, and suit worn by Dong-su were everyday items, they were items that could be interpreted in various ways depending on the situation. Through these devices, you will be able to get an idea of the internal changes that fellow practitioners experience as they are caught up in various situations. Please watch with interest as Dong-soo’s appearance and attitude gradually change as the story progresses.”
Evilive will be released for the first time at 10:30 p.m. on the 14th.
