Han Hyo Joo and Park Hyung Sik fight to regain precarious happiness that might not come again in their new drama.
In the unveiled official poster, the lead actors of Happiness are seen engulfed in an unknown fear. The blue sky contrasts with their worried-looking faces. They hold hands as if relying on each other about the danger and survival they need to confront. Stimulating tension, Han Hyo Joo and Park Hyung Sik appear running as if they are being chased.
Happiness depicts the lives of people isolated in high-rise apartments where a miniature version of hierarchial society occurs. The fierce class discrimination and psychological warfare for survival emerge as an infectious disease hits the city. In a space where daily life collapses and existing values sway, the realistic fear of doubting and guarding each other would be drawn in the story.
Raising expectations, not just for its starring actors, Happiness boasts acclaimed showrunners with proven hitmaking status. Helming the project is Director Ahn Gil Ho whose popular works include Record of Youth, Memories of the Alhambra, and Stranger. He will reunite with writer Han Sang Woon since their collaboration on Watcher. The screenwriter also wrote The Good Wife and Spy.
Anticipated Pairing
Expectations are also high for the synergy of the two actors. Han plays Yoon Sae-bom, a police special forces tactical agent with quick situational judgment and decisiveness. Meanwhile, Park portrays Jung Yi-hyeon, a clever and honest detective in the violent crime squad.
Yoon Sae-bom, who succeeded in making a lifelong dream of getting a house lives together with Jung Yi-hyun with his unexpected proposal. In a place that seemed to be peaceful, the two are swept away by an unexpected crisis.
Accordingly, attention is paid to what the identity of the infectious disease that has changed everyone’s daily life is, and whether they can survive the endless crisis and regain their precious daily life.
Meanwhile, the production team hints at how an infectious disease changes the life of the people in the series. They also guaranteed engrossing chemistry between Han and Park.
“It’s a story about people trying to get back to their normal everyday happiness. It will be interesting to see how people are suspicious of each other. They change in a sealed apartment, surrounded by unknown fears.”
Happiness will be released on TVING and tvN at 10:40 pm on November 5.
