Playing the titular role, Jung Yu Mi perfectly melts to her newest character in Netflix original series, The School Nurse Files.
Having a lot of K-Drama good times with Jung Yu Mi, this new project of her chasing negative elements in the form of jellies is honestly one drama plot sketch, I might not want to delve on. But given her history with me, I decided to add it on my watch list.
Also, Netflix billed The School Nurse Files as ‘cheerful fantasy series’, so there’s nothing much to fear from.
To be exclusively streamed on Netflix, the series stars Jung Yu Mi and Nam Joo Hyuk in lead roles. It officially begins streaming on Netflix starting September 25.
Painting the story of Ahn Eun-young (Jung Yu Mi), the series traverses her journey as a school nurse who realizes cryptic occurrences at her new school, she untangles the mysteries with the help of Classical Chinese teacher Hong In-pyo (Nam Joo Hyuk).
Nurse Eun-young has special ability to see “supernatural Jellies” that are invisible to everyone else. Representing invisible blobs of greed, the Jellies were inadvertently unleashed by In-pyo from its containment seal.
Meet School Nurse Ahn Eun-young
With Eun-young having the power to see the Jellies, she confronts a challenging life battling supernatural creatures. Lucky for her, she discovers that In-pyo has a special energy that recharges her power and protects her. Together, they wage war against the Jellies to defend the school and the students.
The unveiled photos of Jung Yu Mi show Nurse Eun-young as newly-appointed school nurse at Mognyeon High School. In one photo, she sits down on a pensive mood holding a cute multicolored sword. Behind her, a cabinet usually tightly closed during days and hours of students’ visit, is seen full of various religious items from around the world.
From amulets to crucifix, she is not short of trinkets she needs to replenish her energy. Although unhappy of her special ability, she imbibes tsundere emotion, resigned to protect the school and students.
A favorite of the readers to play the role, Jung Yu Mi returns the appreciation by revealing glimpses of her character.
She said, “I usually chose a character with the desire to give comfort to those who watch it, but Eun-young strangely comforted me. I thought that it would be good for those who watched the show to feel those emotions as well.”
Describing her character further, she mentioned that Eun-young is awkward but strong. “He looks blunt, but he’s actually a friendly person,” she added.
Netflix original series The School Nurse Files will premiere on September 25.
