Kang Tae Oh and Kim Sejeong Headline Soul-Swapping MBC Rom-Com Series

MBC’s highly anticipated Friday-Saturday drama In the River Lee, the Moon Flows is set to premiere on October 31.

Blending romance, comedy, and historical fantasy,이강에는 달이 흐른다 (In the River Lee, the Moon Flows) (LT) has already sparked excitement with the release of two teaser posters and a witty special poster showcasing its quirky premise.

At the heart of the story lies a fantastical twist: Crown Prince Lee Gang (Kang Tae Oh), a self-indulgent royal who masks his inner scars with style and arrogance, and Park Dal-i Kim Sejeong), a bold and street-smart bubosang (traveling merchant) with a missing memory, suddenly find their souls swapped overnight. Their exchange of lives sets the stage for hilarity, heartfelt moments, and an exploration of empathy, as each character is forced to navigate the world from the other’s perspective.

The posters highlight this unusual pairing with playful contrasts. In one version, Lee Gang glares as he dangles Dal-i like a paper doll, while another flips the roles—Dal-i beams mischievously in royal attire, holding the displaced prince in her grasp. The tagline, “Soul switch chaotic opposite-romance,” hints at the comedic turbulence to come, made even more unpredictable by their differences in gender, social class, and personality.

Adding to the intrigue is a special illustrated poster, where Lee Gang appears perched atop Dal-i’s wide-brimmed paeraengi hat. The ink wash-inspired design merges tradition with humor, emphasizing the drama’s balance of sageuk aesthetics and rom-com playfulness. The sharp contrast between Dal-i’s laughter-filled gaze and Lee Gang’s reluctant expression underscores their bickering chemistry, which is expected to drive much of the show’s charm.

Kang Tae Oh, fresh off his success in modern rom-coms, takes on the challenge of portraying a crown prince whose extravagance hides a broken heart, while Kim Sejeong brings her trademark wit and warmth to a merchant girl full of life and resilience. Their first collaboration as leads has already been dubbed a “reliable rom-com pairing,” raising anticipation for the sparkling synergy they’ll bring to screen.

Featuring unique premise, gorgeous period setting, and the magnetic star power of Kang Tae-oh and Kim Se-jeong, In the River Lee, the Moon Flows promises to deliver laughter, romance, and moving insights into love, identity, and understanding. Viewers are counting down the days until October 31, when the moonlit river of fate carries these two unlikely souls into each other’s worlds.
