Kim So Hyun, Ji Soo and Kang Ha Neul sealed their appearances in one of the most anticipated work of 2021.
Backed up by producing director Yoon Sang Ho, 달이 뜨는 강 River Where The Moon Rises (literal translation) is derived from Goguryeo historical folktale of Ondal and Princess Pyeonggang.
PD Yoon has recently worked on acclaimed historical productions, Kingmaker: The Change of Destiny, Different Dreams, and Saimdang: Memoirs of Colors. Penning the script is Han Ji Hoon whose portfolio includes KAIST, Time Between Dog and Wolf and Woman of 9.9 Billion.
Suiting up as the heroine of the series, Kim So Hyun plays the role of Pyeonggang. She was born a princess and pursues a goal of establishing the status of the crumbled kingdom of Goguryeo. Ambitiously driven to become the first Queen of Goguryeo, she faces confusion because of emotions she experienced after meeting Ondal.
The production team conveyed high expectation to the talented actress for her new role. “We are confident that Pyeonggang will become Kim So Hyun’s new life character, so we hope viewers look forward to it,” the production team added.
Kim So hyun, who debuted in 2008 has been building a career from being a popular child actress. She showed solid acting skills by going back and forth between historical and modern dramas, such as Love Alarm, The Tale of Nokdu, Radio Romance and The Emperor: Owner of the Mask.
Meanwhile, Kang Ha Neul has also secured the role of General Onhyeop. who fulfills his responsibilities in the country. He is the father of Ondal, the main hero of the story. As a person who has both charisma and character, he is a revered general of the people, he will play a key role in unfolding the story at the beginning of the series.
Loved for his role in When The Camellia Blooms, Kang Ha Neul has won various awards for his performance in the series.
On October 22, actor Ji Soo, who carved indelible portrayal in recently concluded When My Love Blooms confirmed appearance as Ondal. He develops a desperate love that led him to fight against his beliefs.
Rounding up the main cast are Lee Ji Hoon, who will suit up as Goguryeo’s elite general, Go Geon.
Lee has made resounding appearances in dramas Dinner Mate, Woman of 9.9 Billion, and Legend of the Blue Sea.
Lastly, Choi Yoo Hwa plays the role of Hae Mo-yong. With outstanding appearance, calculated persona and keen foresight, she holds a big secret. Apart from her key role, she is also pictured to cherish Go Geon’s character. The actress’ most recent works include My Dangerous Wife, Life and Suits.
The Moon Rising River targets broadcast in 2021.
