Director Kim Hee Won of Little Women expressed the adrenaline rush she felt working on the drama with Writer Jung Seo Kyung.
Little Women tells the story of three sisters who are poor but amicably raised, and their fight against the richest and most powerful family in Korea. Embroiled in life’s problem about money, the three sisters are caught in an unprecedented incident. The series stars Kim Go Eun, Nam Ji Hyun, and Park Ji Hoo.
Director Kim Hee Won describes the drama and shares feelings on making Writer Jeong’s imagination come to life.
“It’s a work where reality and mysterious imagination that everyone can relate to coexist. It seems to be a story that starts very small and simple, but there is something huge and deep under it. I worked with the hope that the beautiful story of Jeong Seo Kyung, the mise-en-scène, and the lovely performances of the actors would come together to reach an interesting work for viewers.”
She also compliments the writer for having the ability to ignite directors’ passion through their works.
“After I read the ending of the first part, I felt like I couldn’t stand this scene without filming it. Meeting a scenario, I really want to shoot is an ecstatic thing, and I am grateful that I can do such an experience every day. It was a very happy work thanks to the writer Jeong Seo Kyung who gave the director endless inspiration and joy.”
Also, Director Kim reveals how Writer Jeong is open to the “director’s interpretation and opinion.” With that in mind, she stated that one of the drama’s key points is the character development as they reach the final episode. Viewers should also watch out for hidden narratives between characters.
“The first part, which starts from where it is impossible to estimate where the final destination will be, the meaning and preciousness of the first part become stronger as it goes to the end of the work. Please do not miss the detailed emotions and stories on the first page and enjoy them.”
