Piquing viewers’ anticipation, even more, Lovers of the Red Sky unveiled captivating teasers and details about the story and characters.

Lovers of the Red Sky tells the story of Hong Cheon Gi (Kim Yoo Jung), an artist with extraordinary aesthetic insight and skills who became the first female painter of the Dohwaseo (Korean Royal Academy of Painting).

During her stay in the palace, she gets embroiled in a love triangle with Ha Ram (Ahn Hyo Seop), an officer well-versed in astronomy and meteorology who lost his sight in a childhood accident, and the Grand Prince Anpyeong (Gong Myung) who is an art enthusiast.

The drama is set in the fictional era of “Dan Dynasty” and will be helmed by director Jang Tae Yu of Hyena, My Love From The Star and Tree With Deep Roots fame. Notably, it is a drama adaptation of the novel of the same name by Jung Eun Gwol, the author of The Moon Embracing the Sun and Sungkyunkwan Scandal.

All Set For A Captivating Fantasy Romance Narrative

Adapted into TV drama, Lovers of the Red Sky is set in the fantasy world of the imaginary Dan dynasty.

In Dan dynasty, transcendent beings such as ghost (鬼), demons (魔), and gods (神) are involved in human life. Thus, mysterious things are bound to happen around the protagonists.

Accordingly, the names of Haram and Hong Cheon Gi remain the same. But in the original work, the name of the great Anpyeong is changed to Prince Yangmyeong (Gong Myung) while Prince Suyang was changed to Prince Juhyang (Kwak Siyang).

Moreover, the painting garden where the painters do their artworks is changed to the Gohwawon. The names of characters and places and the names in the drama have been partially altered.

Notably, the characters in the novel are drawn in three dimensions by the passionate performances of the actors. Hong Cheon Gi, who shows genius painting skills as the only female painter, is portrayed as a more lovable and attractive character by Kim Yoo Jung.

The red-eyed handsome male lead Haram, portrayed by Ahn Hyo Seop, becomes an enigmatic character. Aside from reading the constellations, he also leads a secret intelligence organization.

In addition, Lovers of the Red Sky is set to unravel the rich story of Hong Cheon Gi and Ha Ram’s childhood relationship. Likewise, the two also embark on a thrilling love triangle with Prince Yangmyeong and conflict with Prince Juhyang.
