Lee Min Ki, Kim Ji Won, Lee El, & Son Suk Ku Stir Empathy in New Released Character Posters of “My Liberation Notes”

My Liberation Diary

Confirming its first broadcast on April 9, My Liberation Notes takes a glimpse at the ordinary lives of its characters.

JTBC’s upcoming Saturday-Sunday drama My Liberation Notes depicts the attempt of three siblings to liberate themselves from the harsh reality of living in the present.

The drama is directed by Kim Seok-yoon, who is known for his works The Light in Your Eyes and Law School, and is written by Park Hae-young who also wrote My Mister and Another Miss Oh.

As the two have already collaborated in their past works Old Miss Diary and I Live in Cheongdam-dong, expectations arise for the drama to provide warm laughter and sympathy.

In the character posters recently released, the hidden stories of three siblings and a mysterious outsider are revealed. Lost in their thoughts while riding the train, three siblings Yeom Chang-hee (Lee Min Ki), Yeom Mi-jung (Kim Ji Won), Yeom Ki-jung (Lee El), and mysterious outsider Goo (Son Suk Ku), long for liberation in their dreary lives.

Kim Ji Won, Lee Min Ki, Lee El and Son Suk Ku Hope To Unbridle Their Uneventful Lives In “My Liberation Diary”

My Liberation Diary

Lee Min Ki as Yeom Chang-hee

Taking on the role of Yeom Chang-hee, Lee Min Ki depicts the second of three siblings, who appears to have no dreams and desires. However, in reality, his daily life is more stable than everyone else.

Even though he appears to be debating with meaningless words, his character cannot be disliked since he grasps reality swiftly and is surprisingly logical.

In his character poster, Yeom Chang-hee can be seen standing in the train’s corner, staring outside with a bitter and empty smile. The phrase “I’m a scumbag,” can be seen, which arouses interest in his character who lives more realistically than anyone else.

Kim Ji Won as Yeom Mi-jung

Youngest of the three, Kim Ji Won plays the role of Yeom Mi-jung, who is a gloomy and achromatic character. Straightforward in her job, Mi-jung is an introvert who has endured each day like an assignment as she finds all relationships challenging.

To escape from a life that has never been filled, she keeps a liberation diary.

Behind her glittering eyes in the character poster, the phrases “I’ve never felt satisfied before,” and “I want to be satisfied at least once,” introduce viewers to Mi-jung’s deep inner thoughts.

Lee El as Yeom Ki-jung

Portrayed by Lee El, Yeom Ki-jung is the eldest of the three siblings. She is a woman who wishes to escape from her loveless life, always honest about her feelings.

Spending her youth and energy commuting to and from Seoul, Ki-jung believes that love can resolve her exhausting daily life. Strongly holding onto that thought, she claims that she will cling to anyone and love them.

Drawing attention to her lovely grin even in the lonely scenery, the phrases “I will love anyone this winter,” followed by “Really anyone” can be seen in her character poster.

Son Suk Ku as Goo

Play the role of a mysterious stranger, Mr. Goo is Son Suk Ku. Living as if unhappiness is all he has in his life, change suddenly enters Goo’s life after falling into a village where more people leave than move in.

Having more days that he is drunk rather than sober, Mr. Goo in the poster ponders on what changes will come and whether he could become a different person after spring comes.

Each character in the drama stands out as the production team has shared. The characters pursue happiness in their unique ways, and the journey of satisfying their inner selves shall elicit sympathy.
