JTBC’s upcoming Friday drama My Youth has unveiled new stills of Song Joong Ki as Sunwoo Hae, instantly transporting viewers back to the bittersweet glow of first love.
Set to premiere on September 5, the series tells the tender romance between Sunwoo Hae — a man who started his “ordinary” life later than most — and Sung Je-yeon (Chun Woo Hee), the woman who must unexpectedly disrupt that fragile peace.
In My Youth, a reunion with a first love who once lit up the darkest chapter of her life becomes a journey to reclaim a lost part of herself, blending heartfelt humor with stirring emotion. The drama brings together Yumi’s Cells and Familiar Wife director Lee Sang-yeop and Run On writer Park Si-hyun, promising depth, warmth, and finely tuned storytelling.

The newly released image captures Sunwoo Hae amidst a cascade of flowers — a nod to his life as a florist. Once a celebrated child star, he lived his brightest days far too soon, and now carries a quiet grace tinged with past wounds. His serene smile in the still hints at unspoken stories, while the reappearance of his nineteen-year-old first love, Sung Je-yeon, threatens to upend his carefully built life. The mystery deepens as to why this novelist hides behind a pseudonym and keeps his true identity under wraps.
Sharing why he joined the project, Song Joong Ki said, “I felt warmth as soon as I read the script. I liked that it was a heartfelt melodrama and a human story, something I hadn’t done in a long time. Unlike my past fantasy-heavy roles, Sunwoo Hae felt grounded in reality, and that resonated deeply with me.”
My Youth premieres September 5 at 8:50 PM KST on JTBC, airing two back-to-back episodes every Friday. Viewers can also catch it on Coupang Play in Korea, Viu across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, and Rakuten Viki in the Americas, Europe, Oceania, the Middle East, and India.
