Netflix’s D.P. Deserter Pursuit unveiled fascinating points that viewers can expect.
D.P. originates from the famous webtoon with the same title, gathering 10 million views. Writer Kim Bo Tong and director Han Jun Hee made this webtoon came to life and added various twists to the characters along with the story itself.
The drama unfolds the story of Ahn Joon-Ho (Jung Hae In) and his co-officer Han Ho-Yul (Koo Kyo Hwan), who are tasked to catch deserters.
They both land on the D.P. (Deserter Pursuit) team and face the reality of military life. Viewers should also wait on Joon-Ho’s and Ho-Yul’s character developments from being young soldiers.
Joon Ho’s Growth as an Individual
One charming point that viewers can hope for is the development of Joon-Ho in the series. Our main character is a private soldier and is assigned to join the DP team.
Joon-Ho is still young and he doesn’t easily adapt to military life. While doing his job in catching deserters, he would release various emotions and grow internally and externally. Writer Kim Bo-tong shares insights about the hero of D.P.
“Viewers will be able to understand Jun-ho’s situation and feelings naturally by following in chronological order about the circumstances that led Jun-ho to enlist in the army, how he lives a private life, and how he became a DP. In order to better understand the character, the story was told earlier than the original point of view. Watching Junho grow in the process of finding a deserter, he will be able to send greater support and empathy along the way.”
The Appearance of Captain Han Ho Yul and Captain Lim Ji Sup
To enrich the story more, the production team added the characters of Ho-yeol and Ji-sup that balance and double the dramatic fun.
When Joon-ho came to D.P, he needed a new captain and, he met Ho-Yul. The latter radiates positivity and is a very ideal senior for Joon-ho because he is also a young man. He also uses his strategies and rules to catch deserters
Meanwhile, Ji-sup is a senior officer and prioritizes his promotion. His appearance gave tension between him and Sergeant Park Bum-goo (Kim Sung Kyun) because of D.P’s missions.
