Shin Min Ah is set to deliver a spicy romantic comedy in the upcoming series No Gain, No Love!
The tvN X TVING original drama, written by Kim Hye-young, directed by Kim Jung-sik, and produced by CJ ENM STUDIOS and Bon Factory, is scheduled to premiere on August 26.
The story follows the zero-profit romance between Son Hae-young (Shin Min Ah), a woman who got married to avoid losing money, and Kim Ji-wook (Kim Young Dae), a man who becomes a fake groom to protect himself from being a victim.
In this drama, Shin Min Ah takes on the role of Son Hae-young, a savvy expert in profit and loss calculations who despises any kind of loss in life and love. Hae-young, known for her quick mental math, calculates the break-even point in everything—from her studies to her love life and work. When faced with the risk of missing out on a promotion, she even goes so far as to hire a short-term groom and stage a fake wedding to keep her life in the black.
On the 8th, Shin Min Ah candidly shared her thoughts on taking on such a unique role, catching the audience’s attention. Her sharp gaze and confident smile, which seem to weigh every situation for profit or loss, perfectly capture the character’s personality, heightening anticipation for her bold and refreshing acting transformation.
Reflecting on her role, she described Son Hae-young as someone who “tries to avoid loss no matter when, where, or with whom.” She added, “It’s a bit sad to see her living so fiercely by her own calculations, but Hae-young’s no-nonsense attitude is like a refreshing soda, which made her incredibly charming to portray.”
She also revealed that she focused on making Hae-young’s emotions and sometimes blunt language appear natural. As this is her first time playing a character with an office job, she put a lot of thought into the character’s style, aiming to showcase various looks that reflect Hae-young’s professional status.
Shin Min Ah described Son Hae-young with three key phrases: “ZERO loss,” “miserable,” and “soft on the outside.” She explained that true to her name, Hae-young hates losing out. While she may seem harsh due to her straightforwardness, she’s actually warmer than anyone else, showing Shin Min-ah’s deep affection for the character.
Finally, she highlighted what viewers should watch for, saying, “It will be interesting to follow Hae-young’s emotions—why she hates losing so much and how she ends up in a fake marriage.” She encouraged viewers to watch the “charming and honest drama,” expressing her confidence that No Gain, No Love will captivate audiences.
The tvN X TVING Original drama is a collaborative project by tvN and TVING, designed to maximize viewer satisfaction across both traditional TV and OTT platforms. The drama will premiere on tvN on Monday the 26th at 8:50 PM, and will also be available on TVING as a VOD. A spin-off will be released as a TVING original later, and the show will also be available globally in around 240 countries via Prime Video.
