The lead stars of JTBC’s new weekend series graced the drama presentation that was broadcast live on YouTube.
Doctor Slump threads on the story of two rivals who were reunited in the darkest period of their lives. In the process, they become each other’s light bringing excitement, laughter, and warm solace.
In charge of the production is Director Oh Hyun Jong (The One and Only, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo) and Writer Baek Sun Woo of My Roommate Is A Gumiho and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim fame.
Portraying the role of Yeo Jung-woo, a star plastic surgeon who falls into the worst slump of his life is Park Hyung Sik. From his school days, he always took the first place. He becomes the “star doctor” from the best medical school in Korea with his skills and character. However, a cryptic medical accident altered his ideal life.
Park Shin Hye plays the character Nam Ha-neul, an anesthesiologist suffering from burnout syndrome.
Ha-neul, who was called a genius since she was born, became crazy about her studies with her brilliant brain and fierce efforts. Even after she achieved her career as a doctor, she became an adult who was crazy about her work. One day, she suddenly looks back on her own life, which has been ruined and vows to change her life.

Park Hyung Sik relays his reason for returning to the romantic comedy genre.
“I wanted to laugh at some point while working on a deep work. I laughed a lot while reading the script. I chose it because it was a work that touched me pleasantly as if a friend was by my side.”
Making her small-screen comeback, Park Shin Hye conveys her goal for her latest project.
“I wanted to show a different side of myself because I’ve done a lot of genres. I thought it would be a good idea to show the genre I’m good at and the side I’m best at. I want to show a new side, but I also want to make a work that people around me can comfortably watch.”
Reuniting since working together in the drama, The Heirs, both actors express happiness and feeling comfortable working together.
Along with the main leads, Yoon Park and Kong Seong Ha decorate the story with their expected impressive characterizations.
Yoon Park, who plays the role of Bin Dae-youn’, a plastic surgeon full of bravado and pride gave a glimpse into his character.
“Dae-young has his own ideal, but there is a gap. He is aware of this and tries to fill it, but he is not successful.The loopholes that come from there will be fun.“
Kong Seong Ha, who plays the role of Lee Hong-ran, a single mother anesthesiologist and Ha-neul’s only friend, disclosed her preparations and aspirations for her new character.
“I wanted to try this role because it is more cheerful than the characters I have played so far. I want to show through my work that Gong Seong-ha also has this kind of charm. I want to go beyond being a ‘trustworthy actor’ and become a ‘double treasure.”
Kong Seong Ha and Yoon Park plan to show the love story of a single mom and a single dad in the drama.
Ahead of the first broadcast, the director and actors of Doctor Slump emphasized the charm of the drama by describing it as ‘exciting and funny’ and ‘rom-com and healing’.
Park Shin Hye assures a soothing drama experience for viewers.
“Our drama will be a shade where you can rest and lean on our shoulders. I hope it becomes a work that viewers can watch and relax in.”
Doctor Slump will premiere on January 27 on JTBC.
