Ready to become parents in the neighborhood, Lee Yo Won and other cast members of Green Mothers’ Club share what to expect in their roles.
JTBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama, Green Mothers’ Club, follows the story of five mothers in an elementary school, where the atmosphere is fierce and competitive.
In the drama’s press conference, actresses Lee Yo Won, Choo Ja Hyun, Kim Gyu Ri, Jang Hye Jin, and Joo Min Kyung express their thoughts and impressions on being a mother in the upcoming series. Along with that, producer Ra Ha Na has also pointed out key points to look forward to in the drama’s run.
A Mother Full of Greed
Portraying a mother with much pride and greed, actress Lee Yo Won takes on the role of Lee Eun-pyo. Although her role is a mother who is highly educated and competent, the actress shares that Eun-pyo still comes in second.
“Eun-pyo is a woman who is greedy, has many things to do and has talent, but she has no choice but to live being in the second place.”
Commenting on her role Eun-pyo joining the group of mothers, Lee Yo Won finds the story of the drama to be interestingly close to reality.
“The story of these five women intertwined is very realistic and interesting. That’s why I liked it.”
Insider of the Group
In terms of beauty and information among the parents, actress Choo Ja Hyun’s role, Byun Chun-hee can be relied on. Portraying someone who is attractive, the actress shares her concerns on accepting the role.
“It’s clear that it’s an attractive role, but I wasn’t confident when I received this script.”
However, through meeting with the director and writer of the series, the actress has found strength and motivation in portraying her role.
“After meeting with the director and writer, their love for the work and the message they wanted to convey to the audience were clear. I think it came as an inspiration to me.”
Outsider of the Group
Unfazed with the competitive environment, actress Kim Gyu Ri portrays Seo Jin Ha. She is considered an outsider for raising her child differently from how other mothers do so.
Having great looks, wealth, a caring husband, and a son who can speak five languages, the actress Kim Gyu Ri shares that her role Jin Ha still has her own shortcomings.
“…She comes out as a woman who mothers want to approach and want to be close to. She looks perfect, but her lackings is also very strong.”
Mother with a Younger Husband
Taking on the role of Kim Young-mi, actress Jang Hye Jin causes laughter as she explains her character. The actress explains that Young-mi, as a mother, values emotional connection with her children. However, whenever her role gets angry, actress Jang Hye Jin reveals that no one listens.
Young-mi’s husband is portrayed by Im Su Hyung, who is younger than actress Jang Hye Jin. With that, the actress expresses her honest thoughts on the experience of having a younger husband on set.
“Im Su Hyung, who plays the role of husband, is 12 years younger than me… I’m bragging. It’s very tender,”
Adding to that, the actress voices out her realizations while filming.
“…When I went to the scene, I felt that this is how it is to be taken care of and loved by a younger person.”
Alpha Mom
Joo Min Kyung takes on the role of Park Yoon-joo, who is considered an ‘alpha mom’. Burning with passion and devoted to her child’s education, actress Joo Min Kyung is revealed to be both the youngest in the mother group, as well as in the drama set. Having said that, the actress reveals how her seniors helped her overcome her fears throughout the filming.
“I was very scared until I went to the meeting. But from the meeting, the seniors gave me a lot of comfort. I was there with the feeling of being cared for. So I was happy to film it.”
Reassuring the actress with warmth, Choo Ja Hyun adds that the performance Joo Min Kyung could be looked forward to.
“But she’s really good. I hope you’ll pay attention to Joo Min Kyung’s acting skills in our drama as well.”
Discussing the casting process of the drama, producer Ra Ha Na reveals how the roles matched the set cast.
“I worked on the script with the writer for a long time, but it is easy to match the real actors while writing the script. So I drew and wrote the people sitting here in my head when I used them as models…”
Finally, inviting viewers to the drama, the producer compares the drama to treasure hunting as there are helpful hints to pay attention to in its broadcast.
“It’s different once you see it, and it’s different once you see it again. There are a lot of hidden things like treasure hunting.”
