The new sports-themed series from KBS gears up for its launch in August.
Pure Boxer is based on the novel Pure Boxer Lee Kwon-sook by Choo Jong-nam, the 2nd winner of the Kyobo Book Store Story Contest.
In the drama, Lee Sang Yeob plays the role of Kim Tae-yeong, a sports agent who attracts talented players. He is resolute and emotionless but gets the job done hesitate to do anything for his players’ talent and money.
His life comes to a turning point when he approaches a genius boxer who went into hiding.
In the character stills released, Lee Sang Yeob embodies a sports agent who is fully equipped with expedients, tricks, and bribery as well as flattery. He draws attention by showing off a chic aura from baseball jumper styling to tracksuits to sophisticated casual wear.
Lee predicts various emotional variations, from charismatic eyes with sharp insight to cold-blooded expressions without blood or tears, raising expectations for the character Kim Tae-young he will present.
Next, Kim So Hye transforms into a genius boxer Lee Kwon-sook who disappeared without a trace.
Lee Kwon-sook emerged as a boxing star at the age of 17. She has a strong fighting spirit forged by her father’s rigorous training.
Ahead of an important match, she vanished. Then, she encounters a new phase in her life when she meets Kim Tae-yeong, her caring agent.
The stills released featuring Kim So Hye as Lee Kwon-sook captures her appearance as a kindergarten teacher. She wears an elegant hanbok and shows a gentle smile toward her students.
In other photos, Kim presents a genius boxer equipped with explosive fists and daring combat power. It draws attention to the reason why she left boxing and went to become a teacher while hiding.
Pure Boxer premieres on KBS2 TV’s Monday-Tuesday slot in August after Heartbeat.
