Lee Yeon Hee challenges her first workplace drama in RACE.
RACE features the story of strong-willed Park Yoon-jo. What she lacks in qualifications and experience she more than makes up for in tenacity and drive.
But when everyone in the company discovers that several recent hires were made as part of a newly created diversity program, Yoon-jo will have to overcome the insurmountable to win their approval.
Yoon-jo has spent her entire career trying to prove that she belongs. Born into a family without means, she was unable to secure a university degree or lean upon her family connections to get ahead, but what Yoon-jo lacks in formal education she more than makes up for in her work ethic.
In RACE, viewers follow along as Yoon-jo battles against a stacked deck to secure her dream job at Seyong, a huge Korean conglomerate.
Although it appears Yoon-jo’s luck has finally taken a turn for the better, reality quickly steps in to prove her wrong, forcing Yoon-jo to work harder than ever to overcome the seemingly impossible and prove to everyone that she belongs where she is.
The series stars Lee Yeon Hee (New Year Blues, Welcome to Wedding Hell) as “diversity hire” Park Yoon-jo; Moon So Ri (The Handmaiden, Seoul Vibe) as Goo Yi-jung, the leading voice in the PR industry; Hong Jong Hyun (Moon Lovers) as Yoonjo’s friend Ryu Jae-min; and Jung Yun Ho (Dating On Earth) as CEO of Earth Communication Seo Dong-hoon.
Passionate Temporary Worker Park Yoon-jo
Pioneering her own life amidst a recruitment scandal and a hard life, Yoon-jo is a picture of the pragmatic appearance of a Korean office worker.
For her preparation, Lee Yeon Hee cut her hair short and donned casual office clothing suited to an office worker.
As seen in the stills released today, she looks brimming with energy. Clenching her fists, beaming brightly; she exudes an encouraging vibe.
Striking a photo of her ID and raising her hand to express her opinion, Lee captures the diligence of Park Yoon-jo.
Revealing the reason why she appeared in RACE, Lee Yeon Hee shared she resonated with the reality of the drama. To equip herself with ample knowledge to her role, she also read related books about the Public Relations world.
Moon So Ri, who plays the role of Park Yoon-jo’s life role model and the industry’s best PR specialist Gui-jeong, praised the actress. She vouched that Lee Yeon Hee fit well with her character Yoon-jo.
