“Serendipity’s Embrace” Hints At Tangled First Love Stories

It’s a blast from the past with tvN’s new romance drama Serendipity’s Embrace!

This show takes us on a nostalgic journey through first love, revisiting the awkward crushes and tangled emotions of youth. Premiering on the 22nd, the story follows four characters – Lee Hong-joo, Kang Hu-young, Kim Hye-ji, and Kwon Sang-pil – as their 19-year-old selves navigate the complexities of first love.

The drama throws a curveball when these childhood friends reunite a decade later, at the ripe age of 29. Will fate intervene and reignite old flames? The newly released photos hint at a web of first-love connections.

Who were the first loves of Kim So Hyun, Chae Jong Hyeop, Kim Dasom, and Lee Won Jung?

The production team released photos hinting at the intertwined first loves of Lee Hong-joo, Kang Hu-young, Kim Hye-ji, and Kwon Sang-pil. The image of the confident Lee Hong-joo delivering a love letter to Kang Hu-young amidst a group of boisterous male students piques curiosity. However, the letter’s intended recipient is her best friend, Kim Hye-ji. Lee Hong-joo plays Cupid for Kim Hye-ji, who is too nervous to deliver the letter herself.

Kang Hu-young’s blank stare at the love letter from Lee Hong-joo and the subtle shift in his expression is intriguing. The first to notice this change in the usually stoic Kang Hu-young is his self-proclaimed best friend, Kwon Sang-pil. Kwon Sang-pil, observant and perceptive, looks at Kang Hu-young’s complex reaction to Lee Hong-joo’s presence with curious eyes, hinting at the change their relationships will undergo. The fate of the first loves of Lee Hong-joo, Kang Hu-young, and Kim Hye-ji at nineteen remains to be seen, focusing attention on the impact of the love letter delivered by Lee Hong-joo.

Kim So Hyun stars as Lee Hong-joo, an animation production PD who fears love, but changes after reuniting with Kang Hu-young, who knows her past, after 10 years. Chae Jong Hyeop plays Kang Hu-young, a financial planner with good looks and a sharp mind. After a successful stint in work and love, he returns to Korea after 10 years and unexpectedly reunites with his first love, igniting intense emotions.

Kim Dasom brings life to Kim Hye-ji, an English teacher at Ohbok High School and Lee Hong-joo’s best friend. Lee Won Jung portrays Kwon Sang-pil, Lee Hong-joo and Kim Hye-ji’s male friend who considers himself Kang Hu-young’s best friend, showcasing fantastic chemistry with Kim So-hyun, Chae Jong-hyeop, and Kim Da-som.

The production team shared, “The story of youths discovering their destiny through numerous coincidences, from their first love at nineteen to realizing true love at twenty-nine, will deliver deep excitement with delightful humor. Look forward to the synergy of Kim So-hyun, Chae Jong-hyeop, Kim Da-som, and Lee Won-jung, who will evoke memories of first loves.”
