Continuously proving its global prominence Netflix series Squid Game makes another impressive feat.
The hit series secures four nominations in four categories at the 28th Screen Actor Guild Awards.
Lee Jung Jae and Jung Ho Yeon are both nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress respectively.
Additionally, the series is also nominated for Outstanding Performance By An Ensemble Cast as well as the Ensemble Action Stunt.

Previously, Korean films Parasite and Minari and India’s Slumdog Millionaire were nominated for SAG nominations for non-English-speaking works. Notably, Squid Game is the first to be nominated in the drama category.
Following the unprecedented achievements of Parasite and Minari, attention is focused on whether Squid Game can notch a new record.
Squid Game, which was released on Netflix on September 17 last year, has vaunted huge popularity not only in Korea but also around the world.
According to Google’s recently published report of trends this season, Squid Game bested other globally acknowledged and acclaimed series. The series was ranked No. 1 in the most searched series/shows rankings not only in South Korea, but also in the United States, United Kingdom, Singapore, and other countries.

Since then, the series has been nominated for awards at domestic and international award-giving bodies, realizing its explosive popularity.
Earlier, at the 2021 Gotham Award held in the United States in November last year, the series won the ‘Breakthrough Series Long Form’ category.
Also, at the recent 79th Golden Globe Awards, Oh Young-soo bagged the Best Supporting Actor. The series was also nominated for Best Television Series and Best Actor for Lee Jung Jae.
