The Silent Sea garners attention as a mystery-thriller Korean drama about a unique story and powerhouse cast.
In line with this, the series follows an elite team on a special expedition to an abandoned moon research facility in the year 2075, when natural resource depletion devastated the Earth.
Moreover, wrapped in a veil in search of clues to human survival, the recently dropped posters of The Silent Sea introduce the crew heading to the Balhae base.

The first passenger is the prominent space biologist Song Ji-an (Bae Doona). Song Ji-an, with her cool demeanor and honest personality, joins the expedition to unravel the mysteries that have dogged her as a highly adept astrobiologist. She traveled to the deserted lunar base in search of an answer.
What is the truth about her that she will confront as well?
Second, Han Yoon-jae is the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s youngest exploration captain (Gong Yoo). Han prioritizes the crew’s safety and is constantly at the forefront of missions without hesitation of self-sacrifice.
Even though he is facing a perilous and uncertain operation with a 10% chance of survival, he is curious to see if he will be able to successfully navigate the mysteries that are approaching at the Balhae base, where everything is kept secret.
Risking his life volunteering on a mission, Ryu Tae-seok (Lee Joon) joins as a senior engineer from the Ministry of National Defense’s elite. He obtains Yoon-jae’s trust with his exceptional mission execution and active participation in the proper places.
Next in the crew is Hong Ga-young (Kim Sun Young), a doctor who joined the expedition team.
Finally, Gong Su-hyeok (Lee Moo Saeng) takes the fifth seat in the Balhae expedition team. He is a diligent soldier who always puts the mission first, and he is the expedition’s security team leader.
On a moon filled with darkness and solitude, the cast foreshadows the unpredictable mystery they will encounter, which is evidently shown in the characters’ tense faces and the mysterious light waving over them.
The Silent Sea, which will premiere on Netflix on December 24th as an intriguing mystery thriller set on a lunar base in a place of vast silence, will launch at the end of 2021.
