MBC’s new delightful historical series reveals captured moments from the recent table read.
The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract chronicles how 19th-century Confucian girl Park Yeon-woo overcomes death and arrives in Korea in 2023. She meets an apathetic man who looks exactly like her husband who died on their wedding’s first night.
Based on a webtoon of the same name, the series will be directed by Park Sang Hoon (My Secret Terrius). Penning the script is Wife Scandal writer, Go Nam-jung.
Accordingly, Lee Se Young, Bae In Hyuk, Joo Hyun Young and Yoo Seon Ho attended the first script reading scene where they showed extreme synergy in visuals, chemistry and acting skills.
They introduce their respective roles and convey their strong determination for their latest work. The actors raised expectations by performing a variety of scenes, from serious to sweet romantic comedy, crossing between historical dramas and modern dramas.
In the drama, Lee Se Young takes on the role of Park Yeon-woo, a Joseon Confucian girl who crosses 200 years and ends up in South Korea in 2023 after being kidnapped and thrown into a well.
Ending up in modern-day Korea on the first night of her honeymoon, she meets Kang Tae-ha, played by Bae In Hyuk. Interestingly, he looks exactly like her husband in Joseon who died in front of her.
Tae-ha is a tough-minded man who prioritizes logic over emotions and is the potential successor to SH Seoul. Bae In Hyuk leaves a strong impression by showing a calm tone and indifferent eyes that are 180 degrees different from the ‘friendly senior’ he showed in the previous work.
While Yeon-woo finds a way to return to Joseon, everything begins to change little by little as she feels subtle feelings for Kang Tae-ha. Because of that, Kang Tae-ha is caught in a dilemma. He is confused between the ‘logic’ that wants to push Park Yeon-woo away and the ‘mind’ that wants to attract her.
Joo Hyun Young played the role of Sa-wol, Yeon-woo’s maid and best friend in the series. She injected fresh vitality into the role by naturally acting as a talkative yet sharp-witted person with overflowing energy and bubbly charm.
Yoo Seon Ho, who has made a mark on viewers through various works such as dramas and entertainment, played the role of Kang Tae-min, the half-brother of Kang Tae-ha and a third generation Korean chaebol who loves to have fun. He captured the psychological changes according to his chic tone and emotions in detail and delicately.
The production team said, “The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract will deliver a spectacular fun never seen before through the ‘fated love’ that unfolds between the Joseon Dynasty and the present based on the theme of time slip. From the first script reading, the actors were perfect. We ask for a lot of anticipation and interest in the series which displays great acting skills and synergy.”
Meanwhile, MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract is scheduled to air for the first time in November.
