Seo In Guk Swings into Action as the Playful yet Fierce Monkey Angel in “Twelve”

K-action hero series Twelve is gearing up for its grand premiere on August 23, simultaneously airing on Disney+ and KBS 2TV, and it has just cranked up the excitement with the release of electrifying character posters and stills of Seo In Guk. Agile, witty, and endlessly charismatic, this monkey angel is ready to leap into the hearts of viewers worldwide.

Based on the Eastern zodiac, Twelve tells the sweeping story of 12 celestial angels who live disguised as humans while fighting to protect the world from looming evil. Each angel draws inspiration from a zodiac animal, with Wonseung embodying the monkey — the fastest, most nimble, and most quick-thinking among them. Behind his mischievous grin is an unwavering loyalty and a deep sense of responsibility. Wonseung isn’t just another member of the team — he dreams of stepping into the shoes of his hero, Tae-san, and one day leading the angels himself.

Seo In Guk, who has long been celebrated for his ability to breathe life into diverse roles, revealed that he chose Twelve because he was instantly drawn to its “captivating subject matter.” In preparing for Wonseung, Seo poured energy into capturing the angel’s playful yet heartfelt personality, ensuring the character would shine with both humor and emotional depth.

Director Han Yoon-sun echoed this vision, explaining, “Since the monkey is the animal most similar to humans, I wanted to give this character a broader emotional spectrum than the others. Wonseung begins as a pure soul chasing a dream, but his journey is one of growth, courage, and self-discovery.

The newly released character posters are a visual treat, showcasing Seo In-guk’s expressive acting range — from lighthearted mischief to steely determination. The design features the Chinese character “申” (monkey) alongside a palette of warm brown hues, subtly mirroring Wonseung’s warmth, approachability, and boundless charm. His stills capture moments of fluid movement and sharp intensity, teasing the kind of kinetic action fans can expect.

For Seo, transforming into Wonseung was as much about physical mastery as it was about character work. He immersed himself in rigorous parkour and action choreography, fine-tuning his movements to achieve lightning-fast precision. “I pushed myself to move quicker and with more agility than I’ve ever done before,” he said, hinting at action sequences that promise to be among the series’ most exhilarating.

But Seo’s dedication to Twelve didn’t stop at acting. As a musician with a deep appreciation for storytelling through sound, he also joined the production as a co-music director. His involvement in shaping the series’ score reflects both his versatility as an artist and his deep affection for the project.

Featuring unique blend of Eastern mythology, high-octane action, and heartfelt character arcs, Twelve is shaping up to be one of this summer’s standout releases. And with Seo In-guk swinging into the role of Wonseung — a character who balances playful mischief with fierce loyalty — the series is poised to deliver a thrilling, emotionally rich adventure for audiences in Korea and across the globe.
