Starring Ryeoun, Seol in Ah, Choi Hyun Wook and Shin Eun Soo – the series is slated to air on tvN on September 25.
Writer Jin Su-wan who returned since acclaimed Chicago Typewriter and director Son Jung-hyeon of When My Love Blooms fame collaborate in this new youth series.
Twinkling Watermelon tells the story of a young man raised by a hearing-impaired parent with a natural talent for music. He travels back in time to 1995, and lives with his father Lee Chan. It is a fantasy youth story that would surely delight K-Drama viewers.
Eun-gyeol’s Secret Double Life
Ryeoun plays Eun-gyeol, the only hearing person in a family of deaf people. He is a perfect model student by day, but at night he leads a double life as a guitarist in a band.
In the character stills released, it is interesting to see Eun-gyeol’s different appearances during the day and night, going back and forth between a model student and a guitarist.
The reason why he clings to music even while hiding his existence with a mask is because it is a language only for himself, not a way to connect with his family and the world. Next, Choi Hyun Wook redefines the meaning of a man who came out of a comic book with his lively character Lee Chan.
Thanks to his grandmother who runs a boarding house in the college district, Lee Chan hangs out with his Gen X brothers and is a retro boy full of analog sensibilities. He is a pleasant 18-year-old with a cheerful personality and likes the words passion, effort, and hope.
Then, his heart is taken away by Se-kyung a cello goddess from the school next door whom he meets like fate. In the released photos, there is a struggle of Lee Chan, a novice band member who started grabbing a guitar to appeal to her cello goddess, making us wonder if Lee Chan’s efforts will really shine.
Se-kyung – An Icon of First Love
Taking on the role of Se-kyung, Seol In Ah is a cello goddess of Seowon Arts High School. Se-kyung is dubbed the muse of all people with her innocent beauty and elegant aura that reminds us of a scene from a movie.
Some people get frustrated with Se-kyung’s attitude, like a rose with thorns, while others like Lee Chan burn with passion.
She becomes embroiled in an unexpected love triangle as she becomes the center of attention even with her fleeting appearance.
In the 2nd teaser video released earlier, Eun-gyeol, who had crash-landed in 1995, realized that his father Lee Chan’s first love in his childhood was not his mother, but his aunt Se-kyung, foreshadowing chaos.

Cheong-Ah – the Ice Princess Who Dreams a Sparkling life
Shin Eun Soo transforms into the cold and arrogant ice princess Cheong-ah. She was born as the only daughter of the president of a musical instrument manufacturing company and was born with a hearing impairment.
Contrary to her clear and beautiful name, Cheong-ah, who has been living in a world of silence since her birth expresses her intentions only through drawings and written conversations, not sign language. Her paintings are the language she found to convey her feelings instead of her voice.
