Acclaimed series Pachinko is set to return this summer for its highly anticipated second season.
Pachinko is a riveting saga that begins with a tale of forbidden love and unfolds into an unforgettable chronicle of war and peace, love and loss, and triumph and tragedy, spanning Korea, Japan, and the United States. Season 1 captivated audiences worldwide with its epic narrative of four generations of a Korean immigrant family, from the Japanese colonial period to the 1980s. The series garnered accolades at major award ceremonies, including the Critics Choice Awards for Best Foreign Language Drama, the Gotham Awards for Breakthrough Series – 40 Minutes or Longer, and the Independent Spirit Awards for Best Ensemble Cast.
Returning from Season 1 are key actors Youn Yuh Jung, who anchored the drama, Lee Min Ho, who showcased his acting versatility, and Kim Min Ha, who made a remarkable impression as a newcomer. Season 2 will also introduce Kim Sung Gyu, known for his roles in Noryang: Deadly Sea and Hansan: Rising Dragon. Additional returning cast members include Jinha, Jung Eun Chae, Anna Saway, Han Jun-woo, and Arai Soji.
Season 2 promises to delve even deeper into the story. The first season introduced viewers to Han-soo (Lee Min Ho), a new broker who arrives in Yeongdo, Busan, in the early 1900s, and highlights the life of Seon-ja (Kim Min Ha, Yoon Yuh Jung), a determined woman striving to protect her family during turbulent times.
In the upcoming season, the narrative will continue to follow Seon-ja and her family as they lay the groundwork for their lives, showcasing their resilience and strength. The portrayal of Seon-ja’s journey as a mother of two, struggling to build a better future, will resonate deeply with viewers around the globe.
