“You and Everything Else” Dives Into Friendship, Rivalry, and Life’s Complex Ties

You and Everything Else is an emotional journey that explores the complicated, love-hate dynamic between two lifelong friends whose paths intertwine through various stages of life.

The story centers on Ryu Eun-jung, a captivating and sincere woman who draws people in with her straightforward charm, portrayed by Kim Go Eun (Exhuma, Love in the Big City, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, Little Women).

Eun-jung’s lifelong friend and rival, Cheon Sang-yeon, played by Park Ji Hyun (Hidden Face, Do You Like Brahms, Reborn Rich), has always been a figure of both admiration and envy for Eun-jung, due to her privileged background and innate abilities.

Their friendship begins in elementary school, where they experience both deep affection and intense rivalry, with the bond evolving through their teenage, twenties, and thirties. By the time they reunite at age 42, Eun-jung has become a drama screenwriter, and Sang-yeon is a successful film producer. But life takes a tragic turn when Sang-yeon is diagnosed with terminal cancer and asks Eun-jung to accompany her on a final journey to end her life.

The series explores their shared memories, highlighting how their intertwined lives have left lasting impacts on each other. Kim Gun-woo (The Glory) plays Kim Sang-hak, a passionate photographer and key figure in both women’s lives, adding another layer of complexity to their already intricate bond.

Directed by Jo Yeong-min (Do You Like Brahms, The Interest of Love) and written by Song Hye-jin (My Sweet Seoul, The Smile Has Left Your Eyes), You and Everything Else delicately weaves the rich emotional tapestry of friendship, rivalry, and the bittersweet moments that define a shared lifetime.
