Brain Works Episodes 13 & 14 Highlights
“When a woman says no, she means it.”
After having a drink together, Ha-ru assisted Myung-se home where they discovered Yi-na covered in blood with Eun-ho bleeding and unconscious on the floor. Luckily, the paramedics arrived and the police summoned her for an investigation.
Trembling, she confessed that she was supposed to meet Eun-ho that day. However, he suddenly arrived at her house looking threatened along with Kim Hyun-jun and his friends. She narrated that the other kids forced them to drink alcohol, and she blacked out after. When she came to her senses, she saw Eun-ho bleeding and immediately called the paramedics.
The other kids were also investigated. They all had the same response saying they left early because Yi-na and Eun-ho started fighting. The police also found evidence on An Hye-young’s phone of Yi-na confessing to the crime through chat.
Standing her ground, Yi-na confronted Hye-young to surrender their phones so that they could be investigated. However, she showed her a picture of Yi-na passed out with a hand lifting her skirt. She blackmailed her that more pictures will come out if she doesn’t take responsibility. The next day, she arrived at the police station saying that she thinks she sent the confession.
“You living a happy life will be the best revenge.”
Suspicious of Yi-na’s behavior, Ha-ru decided to trick Hyun-jun to meet with him and get a confession. He managed to get the boy to admit his crimes through brain torture and found out that they had been threatening Yi-na as his revenge for getting rejected. They immediately went to the police station to clear Yi-na’s name and faced trial.
After the case closed, Ha-ru accidentally found out that Myung-se illegally pulled out the phone records of Hyun-jun and Hye-young. Seeing this mistake as an opportunity to have his revenge, he said to Myung-se that he will only keep it a secret if he resigns.
When he came home, he received a package from Dong-woo containing an article about his parent’s murder. After finding out the truth, he went to prison to meet the doctor. Dong-woo proposed to reveal the name of the murderer in exchange for Ha-ru helping him get out of jail.
Brain Works Episodes 13 & 14 Musings
A lesson on respecting women’s boundaries is highlighted in the latest episodes. Remarkably, the show acknowledged the horrors of saying no to a man when you’re a woman.
Additionally, it is commendable that the series emphasized that not all odd and unusual behaviors are abnormal, but rather appropriate reactions to different circumstances.
This helps avoid unfavorable perceptions about mental illnesses.
Moreover, it is heartwarming to see the whole team put their effort to help Myung-se clear Yi-na’s case. Particularly, witnessing Ha-ru care for Myung-se in his own way whether he admits it or not is endearing to watch.
Now that Ha-ru knows the truth, more exciting confrontations are anticipated as the show nears its conclusion. Will Ha-ru give in to Dong-woo’s demands?
