Divorce Attorney Shin Episodes 9 and 10 Highlights
Last week in Divorce Attorney Shin, Yeong-ju challenged Sung-han with a case about a Vietnamese woman claiming she was physically and emotionally abused by her husband.
Raising social concern, Sung-han takes the case representing the husband already condemned by public opinion.
“How do you know if they are comfortable without trying them on?”
Playing his cards well, Sung-han brings back the honor of his client by negating all the claims of the woman. Stressing how the woman had an affair and the assault unfounded, Sung-han and his client went home victorious.
The Vietnamese wife goes back home with her baby to her husband since the man she was seeing vanished, and her kind husband still wants to build a family with her.
Meanwhile, Seo-jin and Lawyer Choi work on the case of the schizophrenic client. Lawyer Choi gets the information from online and offline group that deals with the same problem with their loved ones and family members. Seo-jin who still struggles to face people made an excuse to skip meeting the group.
Thankfully, her son Hyun-woo is wise beyond his years. He encourages her mom with advice when she was trying to order him shoes online. He pushes her to not be too hard on her misgiving.
So, when her old friend from the radio station saw a comeback opportunity for her to use live streaming as a platform, she braves the odds. However, a persistent commenter keeps on throwing shades at her.
Surprisingly, she’s just a 14-year-old young woman who hates the idea of how Seo-jin who had an affair fought for her son. Her mother left for another man and completely neglected her. Thus, her jealousy towards Hyun-woo made her comment foul words online. Understanding where she was coming, Seo-jin forego pressing charges and offered help with Lawyer Choi.
“Why now? Why me?”
Smartly utilizing what he learned from the group with schizophrenic relatives, Lawyer Choi gets his first victory. He proved how the husband intentionally approached his schizophrenic wife. Her medical case also worsened because of him.
Romance is blooming between So-yeon and Hyung-geun. Both are making efforts to get to know each other. Of course, Jung-sik and Sung-han are very supportive of their brother’s budding relationship that they adorably tagged along to their camping date without permission.
Preparing to represent Madam Ma to her divorce case against her formidable chaebol husband, Sung-han is up to compete against six lawyers.
Lawyer Park and Yeong-ju’s connection is also going awry. The latter was also given a redeeming chance by her father-in-law to pull off the divorce case initiated by Madam Ma.
Getting substantial evidence from Madam Ma, Sung-han meets Chairman Seo’s lawyers. He furnishes them the well-documented evidence and cite that Madam Ma kept those to protect the marriage and the company before.
After making his first attack, Sung-han gets another consultation. Surprisingly, it is from his nephew Ki-yeong who wants his uncle to defend him.
Divorce Attorney Shin Episodes 9 and 10 Musings
There is no wasted character in Divorce Attorney Shin. Even the child actors are given special moments to highlight their potential as actors and the beauty of their respective characters.
Hyun-woo’s push on Seo-jin in this week’s episode reminds us to always choose to overcome fears than hold back. Similarly, Ki-yeong’s move to ask for help from someone he trusted asserts the importance of being reliable adults in case some young people or children badly need it.
The featured divorce cases this week also sheds light on how typically Korean husbands are marked as abusers in the scenario that involved foreign wives. It’s a refreshing picture to know that it’s not the case every time.
In the case involving a schizophrenic wife who was taken advantage of by her lazy husband, we learned that marriage is not about an evil definition of give-and-take. The husband claims that his family’s monetary demands equate to his position of taking care of a sick wife.
This also serves as a nudge to parents with emotionally fragile or ill children to be wary of making decisions that involve their children.
Each week of watching the drama, there are a couple or more moments when viewers are treated to a laughing spree courtesy of the smartly placed funny scenes. Typically, it features the bromance of Sung-han, Hyung-geun and Hyung-sik. But this week, a peek at how ramyun-eating can be irrevocably attractive was shown by Hyung-geun and So-yeon.
Romance in the 40s is also an interesting highlight of the series. Engrossingly, it captures the essence of comfortable dating between two people in the middle age of their lives.
Moving forward to Madam Ma’s case, an exciting sprint to the closure of the series awaits the fans. Correspondingly, this also paves the way for Sung-han’s ultimate goal of bringing justice to his beloved sister’s unfair demise. Hopefully, he gets Ki-yeong’s custody, too.
