Weird Attorney Woo

Extraordinary Attorney Woo Episode 3 Highlights

In the opening chapters of Extraordinary Attorney Woo, we met Woo Young-woo, a genius lawyer who also has autism.

She impressed us with her unique perspective, rational judgment and heartening motivation to help. Officially working at Hanbada law office, she is set to embark on more experiences and opportunities to help.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo

“Are you assigning this case to me because I’m also autistic?”

A new case comes in for Myung-seok and he asks Young-woo to join since the defendant named Jung-hun is a 21-year-old man who is also autistic. However, his case is quite severe and he has an intellect of a 6-year-old child. One day his parents came home and finds him sitting on his unconscious older brother shouting “die, die, stop”.

His brother Sang-hun, unfortunately, died. Thus, he was indicted by the prosecution office. Jung-hun’s parents agree to bring him to meet the lawyers. But nothing concrete was formulated about the day of the supposed murder.

Young-woo also struggles to communicate with him. When she gets home, she asks her father how he has endured living with someone like her. Her father honestly responds that it was a lonely battle as he needed to accept that he cannot receive comfort from her.

“Methods are always obvious. What’s hard is accomplishing them.”

Luckily, since she was engrossed in law, they found a spot to communicate well. Even if she threw tantrums, her father was able to subdue and convince her by mentioning a law lesson they can work on.

He tips her that finding someone’s interest would help as long as efforts are poured in. Thereafter, Hanbada lawyers draw their efforts. On the next meeting with Jung-hun; Young-woo, Myung-seok and Su-yeon use their client’s penchant for Pengsoo to vaunt a song number from the children’s show.

Seemingly disinterested, Jung-hun joins the fun when the trio stopped. Young-woo takes advantage of it and asks him details about why he killed Sang-hun. Just then, she gets a eureka moment and asks him if his brother was trying to die.

Replying yes, the lawyers’ hope gets shattered when Jung-hun’s mom demonstrates that he responds yes to all questions regardless if you paraphrase it.

It turns out that the suicide theory they thought is true. Young-woo and Jun-ho found Sang-hun’s diary which proved how he had attempted suicide multiple times.

Witnessed by Jung-hun, he tried to stop his brother from doing it. When Jung-hun’s parents meet Myung-seok and Young-woo, they refused to accept the reality. They prefer not to mar the perfect image of their eldest son than make their youngest son be absolved of the crime.

At night, Young-woo reads the comments about the case. Utterly cruel, the commenters tactlessly berate people with an autism spectrum disorder.

“Not everything that steps out of the line is ‘abnormal’ and can be considered ‘inferior’. With their new ways of thinking and experiences, people with autism can later accomplish great things.”

Probably remembering the fun he had at Hanbada, Jung-hun hailed a taxi to go to the law office. When his mom picked him up, she decides to have Hanbada take the case again on the condition of not mentioning the suicide.

On the day of the trial, the prosecutor kept attacking Young-woo to dispel what she established for Jung-hun as a meltdown. After the first trial, Jun-ho looks for Young-woo and sees her holding a rope.

Thinking she was trying to commit suicide, he grabs her bottom and cushions her as she falls to the ground with her back first. Young-woo gets another eureka moment and immediately seeks Myung-seok who was having a meeting with Jung-hun’s father.

Explaining what she just deduced, Jung-hun’s father finally agrees to reveal the truth about Sang-hun’s suicide. He also requests for Young-woo not to represent Jung-hun.

Understanding his point, Young-woo laments how her situation has only one idea to normal people. Having autism, she like the rest of the people who have it is prone to public judgment that what they have is a hopeless case of disability.

She also wallows in the disappointing reality of how as a lawyer she cannot help her client because of it.

On the next trial, another lawyer defends Jung-hun as Myung-seok opts to be one with Young-woo. With the preparations made by them, the trial sees a positive outcome.

Meanwhile, Young-woo decides to resign from her job. Getting her things and the nameplate that she hasn’t had a celebratory photo yet, she leaves Hanbada Law Office.

Here’s How To Replicate The Sunset Date Shared By Park Eun Bin and Kang Tae Oh In “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”

Extraordinary Attorney Woo Episode 3 Musings

How not to love everything about Park Eun Bin in Extraordinary Attorney Woo?! We can only imagine the amount of effort she powered into her role.

Impressively, this episode captures Woo Young-woo’s moment of doubt if she is fit enough to become a lawyer. We can totally understand how she arrived at that situation.

That scene when she painfully realized how she cannot help Jung-hun was beautifully captured. Let’s hope she gets her confidence back really soon.

Subtly piercing us with incorporated lessons, this episode expounds on the harrowing judgment often endured by people with autism.

Like Young-woo with exceptional ability to process cruel responses against the disorder they suffered; we empathize with her pain for how people would opt to ridicule her first than understand the entire picture.

Realistically, people who can be more lenient and understanding of autistic people are their family members.

Just like Young-woo’s father, we saw him explained sticking to the arduous job of raising a daughter that does not open up to him nor sympathize on his situation.

But he found ways to be on the common ground. Surely, this is a hard feat to achieve, we can always choose to be kind and not be the mean people like the commenters who broke Young-woo’s heart.

The judge at the trial and Jung-hun’s mother underline how autism can go different ways for people who have it. While some can be genius like Young-woo others regrettably have miserable mental capacity.

On that note, this episode left an imprint of how we can opt to be considerate and be on an empathetic mindset towards people with mental disorder.
