Weird Attorney Woo

Extraordinary Attorney Woo Episode 4 Highlights

Doubting her ability to become a lawyer after the case with Jung-hun, Young-woo decides to quit her job at Hanbada. The mean comments she read and the recent experiences made her think that she’s not good enough to defend a client.

Interestingly, Jun-ho is showing signs of adoration towards Young-woo. He felt bad when his acquaintance thought bad about her. Lingering on that thought, he even bought a gift to try and appease her.

“Woo to the Young to the Woo – Dong to the Geu to the Rami!”

Since leaving her job, Young-woo works part-time at her father’s restaurant. Her father is curious about what happened but of course, her daughter is not the type to express her emotions well.

When Young-woo’s best friend Geu-rami visits to relay her father’s predicament, Young-woo finds herself back at Hanbada.

What happened is that Geu-rami’s father was tricked by his brothers to sign a compensation form for the land left by their father under Geu-rami’s father’s name. The eldest brother gets 50%, the middle brother gets 30%, and Geu-rami’s father gets 20%.

Always relenting to his older brothers whom he respects because of being cultured, Geu-rami’s father also agrees to pay the taxes when the land was developed by the government and gave compensation money. It led to him incurring a debt of 260 million won, and not getting anything from it at all.

Closing the restaurant, the two besties and Young-woo’s father drive to Ganghwa to get the memorandum Geu-rami’s father signed. Finding no loophole in the agreement, Young-woo finds a possibility to turn the tables.

Apparently, the eldest brother explained how Korea’s inheritance tax follows the rule he gave for the division of the land compensation. Young-woo builds an argument on that lie. However, she refers the case to Lawyer Jung since she already resigned.

Geu-rami goes to Hanbada Law Office per Young-woo’s advice and meets Lawyer Jung. Unable to understand why her senior can’t take the case she goes to the office.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo episode 4

“I can’t watch the father of my only friend go broke after being fooled by his older brothers.”

Young-woo crashes on her lawyer teammates’ lunch break to insist that Lawyer Jung should take the case. However, she gets a response that the case is hopeless. He also tells her that he did not process her resignation because her letter did not supply a valid reason for her decision.

Agreeing to help with the case, Lawyer Jung insists that Young-woo take the lead to defend her best friend’s father since technically she’s still a lawyer at Hanbada.

In the first trial, Young-woo faces a predicament when the eldest brother denied mentioning the inheritance tax when they were convincing Geu-rami’s father.

Without solid evidence, the case is going untoward to a positive outcome. Fortunately, they secure a witness who heard the conversation the three brothers shared.

“Nakjo village is 30 minutes from here. It is famous for sunsets. Nakjo village is a famous date spot in Ganghwa-do. I’m giving you guys privacy. I’m rooting for you. You got this!”

Lucky for Young-woo, she has a best friend who not only has her back but also knows to give her heart-fluttering romance. Noticing the extra care Jun-ho gives to Young-woo, Geu-rami tips him of a nearby date spot famous for sunset.

Slow to process Geu-rami’s playful taunt, in the end, Jun-ho asks Young-woo if she wants to see the sunset and she agrees. Having a penchant for anything about whales, seeing the Yellow sea, Young-woo goes to her adorable knowledge monologue about whales.

When Jun-ho asks if she has seen a whale in person, he was perplexed to learn she’s not. Mentioning the whales in the aquarium, Young-woo rants about how her favorite whales suffer whenever they are put on display in aquariums.

After Jun-ho appeases her, she calms down and shares her dream to meet the whales that were freed after a courtroom trial. Taking advantage of the moment, he asked why she resigned and if what his acquaintance remarked previously put a toll on her.

Woo-young honestly confesses how even if she works Lawyer Woo, she still feels like an autistic Woo Young-woo in the eyes of people. Thus, she thinks she does not help her client at all.

Assuring her that he will there by her side, Jun-ho tells her that he’ll definitely want a lawyer like her.

“Sorry. I didn’t expect people to lie in court. I should’ve found indisputable evidence first.”

Just when the situation looks favorable for the case, at the next trial, the witness who is a friend of Geu-rami’s father went against his previous admittance that he heard them talk about inheritance tax. The answer caught Young-woo off guard while the evil older brothers faintly beam wickedly.

Hanging out at the pub where Geu-rami works, despondent Young-woo blames how she did not secure solid evidence. But her friend assures her that they can’t do anything when people lie.

Just then, Young-woo gets a eureka moment when Geu-rami mumbles if she can only make evidence.

On the Memorial Day of Geu-rami’s grandfather, she came with her parents drunk and chastise her two uncles uncaringly. The result leads to the father and daughter getting assaulted.

In the next trial, Young-woo submits evidence of assault and argues the law stipulation of how the giver of a gift can retract his decision in case of a crime committed against him.

Not backing down, the defendants’ lawyer objected that the assault could have been induced, but smart Young-woo gives his camp a dose of their own medicine by asking to provide evidence.

“Was my resignation processed? Can I start working again today?”

In the end, Geu-rami’s father makes a settlement with his brothers who showed remorse for what they did and confessed the financial problems they were both facing.

After paying the taxes, he declares dividing the money equally among them. Everything is falling in the right places for Young-woo.

Making up for the time he agitated her when they talk about whales inside the aquarium, Jun-ho brings her to the meeting room and shows a big and vivid photo of a whale which definitely perked her up

Getting her confidence back, Young-woo asks Lawyer Jung if she can cancel the resignation letter she submitted.

Lawyer Jung agrees but tells her that she can no longer take days off since she used it up already. Happily putting back her nameplate and prancing in her office, she is back as Lawyer Woo Young-woo.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo Musings

Young-woo and her best friend remind us to strengthen friendships with a “swag greeting” in the 4th episode of Extraordinary Attorney Woo.

Seriously, this chapter assures us that we can have just one friend, and it’s enough to complete our world. Just like what Young-woo said, “she feels safe with Geu-rami”.

Accordingly, the flashback scenes to Young-woo and Geu-rami’s youth reveal the disheartening truth people with autism has to bear growing up.

They had to go through discrimination while protecting themselves at the same time. We know Young-woo can process sad emotions that’s why she resigned.

So, the glimpses of what she endured when she was young, somehow, attests to how intuitive she can be.

Aside from friendship, the message about sibling relationships rings vividly in this episode of Extraordinary Attorney Woo. We saw how Geu-rami’s father feels inferior to his Seoul-educated brothers so he has always relented to their ideas.

If not for the trouble they caused, he would’ve not realized that his complacency could have made him pay debts that he did not deserve. This reminds us to always check every contract we are going to sign no matter if it is family or close friends, we are having an agreement with.

Will there be a romance on the horizon?

We definitely want the pure blossoming connection between Young-woo and Jun-ho. I’m really happy that Kang Tae Oh suited up in this role since it’s about time for him. If you’ve seen his past works, he’s also a chameleon performer like Park Eun Bin.

His fond gazes and encouragement warrant a K-Drama boyfriend badge we all want to date this year.

Let’s not have the single people frustrated to be in a relationship watch this series because we have to protect Young-woo from the silent curses they may throw.

Especially when we saw in the next episode preview how our delightful heroine confronts Jun-ho’s emotions by summoning the spirit of cham-cham-cham.

Celebrate the colorful courtroom life of Woo Young-woo in Extraordinary Attorney Woo! International fans can watch the series on Netflix.
