The Forbidden Marriage Episode 10 Highlights

Accidentally hearing the conversation between Sorang and Shin-won, Lee Heon cut ties with her ordering she can’t return to the palace anymore.

It turns out that before visiting Sorang Lee Heon met with Queen Dowager who reveals Sorang has been deceiving him all along as Lady Seo affirmed, Sorang doesn’t have divine powers.

Making his grandson promise not to have his favored woman return to the palace and she will leave her at peace, Lee Heon had to relent. Curiously, he still made his two guards protect Sorang as shadow guards so she won’t get hurt.

“”We never failed to kill a woman who is favored by the King.”

Alone in his chamber, Lee Heon wallows in sadness from the betrayal. Echoing his pain, Sorang also weeps agonizingly in her room.

The next day, the two feel undeniably despondent. While Sorang wonders where it went wrong, Shin-won mirrors the same thoughts as he watches her confront the unexpected pain.

Meanwhile, coming from heartbreak, Artist Jung’s new book deviated from his usual erotic theme. His adorable managers saw the literary value and the book sells like a pancake for single people in Joseon. However, they have to wait for its continuation.

Lady So and Minister Jo contemplate their next move which basically directs to killing Sorang as they had mastered doing so in the past women who were on Lee Heon’s side.

Bringing Grandpa Gwaeng-yi’s medicine, Sorang got surprised when he strongly blurted out that she leaves and goes to a mountain or nearby water. Just then, assassins arrive meaning to kill her so she rushes to leave Aedaldang as her shadow guards fight to protect her.

Cornered on a mountain, Sorang chose to fall into the water from the tall cliff. Shin-won struggled to swim to safety because of his afflicted harm. Fortunately, he was able to save them both and he woke up to the sight of his hand fully healed.

“I finally understand why Sorang had to lie to me. That is for me to gain my sanity.”

Lee Heon’s guards report what happened and the news broke his heart big time. Realizing the lie his cherished woman was never ill-intended, Lee Heon braces to toughen himself and confront his adversaries.

Meeting Hwayeon, the daughter of Master Sung who saved her and Shin-won, Sorang refuses to stay in her house initially. But she agrees after being convinced of how her life is still in danger.

After the success of Artist Jung’s work, his managers convene the people interested in the second book and give away the books for free. They also spur a movement to express their dislike of the existing marriage ban and officially form a group.

Feigning despair, Lee Heon and Secretary Kim work to investigate the people around Queen Dowager to link to Sorang’s recent plight. Minister Jo thinks his plans are finally materializing so he asserts that his right hand and hunting dog needs to lie low.

“If you’re sorry then come back. It may have been easy for you. But it was difficult for me.”

Proceeding with his investigation, Shin-won bumps into Lee Heon near Ye family’s residence. The latter pleads with him to return to his side. Hwayeon finds Sorang again silently crying and gives a sound pep talk for her not to be hard on herself.

Subsequently, Sorang goes for another meaningful chat with Shin-won who confessed to having met Lee Heon. He loops her in his decision of not going back to his side even when his hand is fixed. He also genuinely expressed wanting to be just plain friends with her for the reason that she looked better with the King.

Promising to bring her to the place that will make her blissful, Shin-won tells her that her happiness is also his. Renewing their friendship, they promise to be by each other’s side.

“Is love when you’re happy when the person is with you? Or is love when you’re sad when the person is not with you?”

Grandpa Gwaeng-yi continues to recuperate well and wonders why the regular customers of the tea shop have not appeared recently. Hwa-young mumbles what he’s looking for has drifted away so the seasoned divination master advises her of how longing is deeply connected to love.

Hwa-yeon shares the news of her getting picked in the first selection. But she is assured that she won’t make the cut because of the scar on her face. Sorang and Shin-won also exchange meaningful glances learning about the eldest daughter of the Ye family as the strongest candidate in the upcoming gantaek.

Shin-won deduces that Lady Seo’s finishing school is a farce since ultimately, she wants her daughter to become the next queen. More so, the women who don’t attend her finishing school are those that have been victimized by Minister Jo’s women-abduction business.

Reaching her tipping point, Sorang makes a move and requests Hwa-yeon to take her as her maid when she enters the palace for the first selection. She also made a point to taunt her younger half-sister by calling her by her real name.

Lady Seo has ensured that the marriage selection inevitably will favor her daughter to the extent of bribing court ladies officiating the selection. At the first event, Hwa-yeon’s work was switched to Hyeon-hee’s when her work got the best mark from Queen Dowager. Her maid also bribed one of the court ladies openly.

The Forbidden Marriage Episode 10 Musings

There’s never a dull episode in The Forbidden Marriage. Although there are evident slips, the fact that the narrative is not polished makes it even more charming. Giving a let’s-just-be-friends closure between Sorang and Shin-won, hopefully, the story gives him a unique woman like Hwa-yeon for his happy ending.

The Forbidden Marriage

As the story heads to the finale, Sorang’s awakening moment of facing her problem would play an important part in defeating Lee Heon’s enemies. Something that would also avenge the sufferings she had.

Positively, Lee Heon’s driven attitude to fix himself on his own so he can protect Sorang is spurred by the encouragement he received from her. We’ll see how his resolve will play out in freeing himself from the evil meddling of government officials who want him to just be a puppet king for them.

We’re looking at the direction of Lee Heon finding a way to make Sorang his queen or Sorang claiming back her name if her stepmother’s scheming would make her younger sister win.

Tying up the loose ends, we are expecting the official lifting of the marriage ban, the result of the marriage selection, and if Hae-young finally will accept Artist Jung.
