It is time for our male lead to experience some dual-identity shenanigans. Two people sharing one body is tough enough. But if the other party is an evil spirit in love, it is bound to get chaotic.
Interestingly, the evil spirit and the villainess who summoned him have conflicting goals, causing a rift between them. Still, she isn’t one to give up easily, bringing about another tragedy just to come out triumphant.

Head Over Heels Episodes 7 and 8 Highlights
“He had only three weeks to live when he was 18 years old.”
No thanks to Yeom-hwa making another move, Gyeon-woo was chosen as an offering to reinforce the evil spirit’s power. Instead of killing him, the evil spirit possessed Gyeon-woo. His first move, though, is to flirt with Seong-ah, having been drawn to her since he first saw her in front of the haunted house.
Offering Seong-ah an enticing deal, the evil spirit claims he will grant her wish if she catches him before Yeom-hwa. But before joining the hide and seek, Seong-ah has to save the unconscious school bully first. Yeom-hwa’s situation isn’t any better, having fainted in Spirit Mother’s arms, who went there to help Seong-ah.
Instead, it is Ji-ho who stumbles across “Gyeon-woo” first, unaware of the possession. Ignoring Seong-ah’s words about staying away from Gyeon-woo and calling her if he spots him, Ji-ho hangs out with “Gyeon-woo.” But he can’t reconcile the good boy he knows with the new Gyeon-woo, who has sheer strength and extorts money out of bullies after beating them up.
Locating the evil spirit, Seong-ah demands he grant her wish and leave Gyeon-woo’s body. When asked why she goes to great lengths to save Gyeon-woo, Seong-ah asserts it is because he is her first love. However, it is the real Gyeon-woo whom she is talking to. Unlike Ji-ho, Seong-ah keeps her power as a human amulet. When she touches Gyeon-woo, the evil spirit gets locked, and Gyeon-woo is back.
“Now, it is my turn to protect you.”
When exorcism doesn’t work on the evil spirit, Seong-ah can only lock him up using her touch. Reluctantly, Spirit Mother allows Gyeon-woo inside the house and lets him sleep in the same room as Seong-ah, but not without firmly telling them to do nothing more than hold hands.
In the morning, the evil spirit slips away and goes to school, making quite a scene. Catching him, Seong-ah tries to summon Gyeon-woo. But the evil spirit dodges her. Still, she gives him a name (Bong-su) and tricks him into obeying her. Yet Seong-ah can only hold Bong-su for so long before he takes over again.
Communicating through the mirror, Gyeon-woo and Bong-su make a deal. In return for letting Gyeon-woo enter an archery contest, Bong-su will take over his body at school. Seong-ah tries to stop Gyeon-woo, but he is no longer afraid of anything, now that he has her. Pulling her in for a hug, Gyeon-woo confesses he likes her and vows to protect her this time.
In another love confession, a jealous Ji-ho says he likes Seong-ah too. That scene was hilarious, with Ji-ho confessing his feelings to the girl he likes before his rival, since Seong-ah can’t afford to let go of Gyeon-woo’s hand. Though she has already declared her love to Gyeon-woo, Seong-ah suggests they put the romance on hold until they send Bong-su away. After that, they can pick up this love triangle where they left off. However, we are about to get another triangle featuring Beom-su and Gyeon-woo competing for Seong-ah’s heart.

Meanwhile, Yeom-hwa regains consciousness. Despite almost dying, she is unrepentant, arguing Spirit Mother will regret saving her. There is bad blood here, with Yeom-hwa resenting Spirit Mother for having abandoned her after she switched to the dark side. We also learn Yeom-hwa lost her child and tried to perform a forbidden rite to keep the baby’s spirit around, but Spirit Mother stopped her.
Though she pretends to hate it, Yeom-hwa is fine with staying in Spirit Mother’s house because Bong-su is there as well. Seeing through her, Spirit Mother knows Yeom-hwa is up to no good. But she can’t kick her out and give up on her either.
Yeom-hwa wants Bong-su to leave Gyeon-woo’s body and come to her. Yet, to her ire, Bong-su plans to stay in Gyeon-woo’s body for a while, maybe 10 years or so. That is what happens when an evil spirit falls in love. Bong-su is so smitten with Seong-ah that he doesn’t care about perishing if he can stay by her side for long.
“My eyes have opened.”
Noting how Bong-su reacts strongly to the sound of shooting (he was a student soldier and died on the battlefield), a sharp Gyeon-woo uses that trick to control Bong-su and make him promise not to hurt people. Simultaneously, Gyeon-woo senses immense pain in his ears and starts hearing ghosts. This is only the beginning, though. Soon, he will see ghosts, then share his tongue with them, and lastly smell them. By then, it will be too late to save Gyeon-woo, and Bong-su will take over entirely.
With some help from Bong-su, Seong-ah figures out a way to have Gyeon-woo be himself during the contest without having to touch him. If they become each other’s human amulets, Seong-ah and Gyeon-woo will share their fortune, and Bong-su will be suppressed. The catch: it only lasts for a day and can be used only once in a lifetime.
The archery competition is here, and Seong-ah shows up to cheer for Gyeon-woo. Surely, this is when things start to go wrong. Frustrated by Bong-su’s continual rejection, Yeom-hwa casts a spell so she can unify her energy with his. Which means Gyeon-woo will sense Yeom-hwa’s evil energy, too. As we end this week, Gyeon-woo gains the ability to see ghosts. But instead of sharing it with Seong-ah, he remains silent.

Head Over Heels Episodes 7 and 8 Musings
We appreciate the drama keeping its light tone even after Bong-su’s introduction. That petty and infatuated evil spirit is more likable and fitting to the plot than a threatening one. Yeom-hwa is despicable enough, so we don’t need another villain.
Bong-su wants to attend school so he can search for a name, probably his name. So, there is a chance Seong-ah can help him cross over. But we hope it happens before Gyeon-woo reaches the final stage of sensing ghosts and suffers more.
We were rooting for Gyeon-woo to win a medal at the contest, but it now seems unlikely. How can the poor guy focus on hitting the target when evil spirits are lurking around him? Every week, Yeom-hwa reaches a new low, so we hope she gets the punishment she deserves for tormenting Gyeon-woo all those years.
