Buried Hearts Episodes 9 and 10 Highlights
After narrowly avoiding an allergy attack, Dong-ju pretends to be unconscious and overhears a crucial conversation with Director Huh’s son, who discovers that his father never called the ambulance. Overcome with guilt after witnessing his son’s distress, Director Huh resolves to take responsibility for his past wrongdoings—at least until he can secure his son’s future.
As he leaves the hospital, Director Huh stops by Dong-ju’s room and finds him overpowering Jang-seon’s assassin. In a surprising move, he mistakenly stabs the assassin with a poisoned needle. Meanwhile, Dong-ju learns that Eun-nam is in danger and forces the assassin to order his men to back off.
Elsewhere, Chairman Cha, disoriented by a sudden dementia episode, wanders aimlessly. He is soon recognized by his illegitimate son, Ji Seon-wu, who remembers him as a familiar customer at their café.
“I want revenge. I will take my time. I will kill you when your life is worth enough to satisfy my revenge.”
After securing Eun-nam, they go to Jangseon’s abode. Dong-ju calls the “Elder” who can command Jangseon to not mess with him.
It turns out that Dong-ju negotiated with the Elder using the wealth he has access to, temporarily halting their conflict. Declaring a ceasefire, he warns his enemy that he will take his time exacting his revenge.
Back to business and his revenge plan, Dong-ju visits Chairman Cha’s mansion and announces his intention to bring Seon-wu into the family. He then stops by President Huh’s room, making it clear that he will use Huh’s attempt to kill him to his advantage.
A flashback reveals that Dong-ju regained his memories while saving President Huh—an act he deliberately used as part of his carefully crafted revenge plan.
While exploring the Dandelion Project, which contains surveillance records of Korea’s elite, Dong-ju discovered that Jangseon’s corrupt dealings were documented in the very list that Jangseon’s assassin was after. Seizing the opportunity, Dong-ju tricked the assassin into coming to the location where he had imprisoned the assassin’s subordinate.
Aware that the subordinate was likely to be killed, Dong-ju locked them both up together. In the process, he managed to extract crucial information from the assassin about their past connection, which was tied to his father.
“You came to Yeonju and her mom.
Dong-ju goes to Madam Pi after trying to visit his adopted father who was actually on a sabbatical. Madam Pi reveals how he came to his sister and mother when he was young. Bringing a box that bears the clothes he wore when he came to her friend’s life, Dong-ju also sees a picture similar to a photo file his friend hacker sent him.
Later, he meets Eun-nam, who will officially divorce Huicheol. She sees the old photo he got from Madam Pi and gets the surprise of his life. The man carrying him in the picture, who is supposed to be his father, is also Eun-nam’s father.
Buried Hearts Episodes 9 and 10 Musings
Buried Hearts moves its intensity-laden plot with vicious villains and a tenacious hero who are both equally playing their cards well in a ruthless game.
The intriguing dynamic between the villains in Buried Hearts keeps the story gripping while maintaining its intensity. Jang-seon and Director Huh present a striking contrast in their villainous roles—one is aged yet self-assured, while the other is young but hesitant. This disparity is exactly what Dong-ju must exploit. There’s also a big chance that this villain relationship might self-destruct, as hinted to what President Huh has been enduring and how he still has little conscience left in him to worry about his son’s impression of him.
The birth secret shakes up the situation with Dong-ju being blood-connected to Yeo Sun-ho, who is also Eun-nam’s father. We can’t help but have an inkling that Director Huh was driven to kill Dong-ju and his family because of Jang-seon’s order and a possible secret extramarital affair with Cha Deokhui.
There is more to explore in the secret between Deokhui and Secretary Gong, along with the identity of Dong-ju’s mother.
Now that Eun-nam and Huicheol agree to a divorce, Chairman Cha might allow Eun-nam and Dongju to be together, but can they?
