Seeing that he was not thrilled at the thought, Yoo Mi instead asked another favor: to hire Ji-won for a political desk. It didn’t take long for Ji-hoon to use his connection to have Ji-won get a position as a reporter in Bokuk Daily.

While on the elevator again, Yoo mi spots Hyun-joo’s mother, which makes her feel more uneasy. Meanwhile, Ji-hoon shows his true colors by beating and firing his designated driver for arriving late.

Moreover, knowing that Hyun-joon is in the same building as her, Yoo Mi decides it’s best to use the stairs to avoid running into her at the elevator.

The Price Of Lies

Despite trying to avoid running into Hyun-Joon, she still managed to piece together that Yoo Mi stole her identity as Lee Anna.

She saw an invitation addressed to her for the alumni association. Yoo Mi drops to her knees when confronted about her lies, apologizing. Hyun-Joon, on the other hand, has other plans.

She demands to be given 3 billion won within a month. Otherwise, she would file a criminal case again Yoo Mi. In addition, Hyun-Joon tells Yoo Mi not to use the elevator again so they won’t have to see each other.

Moreover, the same evening Ji-won returned home late and fell asleep in the parking garage of their condominium.

While Yoo Mi was about to pick him up, she spotted another woman in the car. In fact, the woman Yoo Mi found sleeping next to her husband in the car was his new personal assistant, ironically named Cho Yoo mi.

However, when asked about the events last night, Ji-won redirects the conversation. He tells Yoo Mi that a scholarship foundation will be built under her name.

The following day, the stress from having her identity exposed and being asked to provide a large sum of money was causing too much pressure on Yoo mi/ Anna.

The only way for Yoo mi/ Anna to collect money was by accepting bribes in the form of gifts from the parents of her university students.

Crumbling Facades

During this time, it was revealed that Hyun-joo was struggling financially. She used her condominium as collateral, explaining why she needed the 3 billion won from Yoo-mi. On top of this, it was revealed that she had a daughter staying with her husband.

Ji-won meets again with Jae-ho right before he leaves once again for America. As it turns out, Jae-ho discovered an article about Yoo Mi and Ji-won’s recent campaign.

Here he reveals to Ji-won why he and Yoo Mi broke up. In disbelief of this revelation, Ji-won conducts her investigation by seeking old records from the university.

For instance, she visited their dormitory and met with the aunt caring for Yoo Mi’s mother. At one point, she comes across one of Yoo Mi’s high school friends.

Ji-won was informed about the incident with the music teacher. Unfortunately, her investigation was cut short as Ji-hoon set up a meeting with her, revealing that he got him her new job.

The meeting was not just a courtesy call, however, as Ji-hoon had ulterior motives, providing Ji-won information about the wealth of his political opposition. Here Ji-won’s philosophy and morals get tested.

A Sudden Death

The party vote was cast a few days later. This ultimately showed that Ji-hoon would officially be the one to represent the Democratic-Republican Party to run as mayor of Seoul.

At the same time, Hyung-Joo seemed troubled by her problems of debt, divorce, and relationship with her daughter.

On her way home from the victory party, Yoo Mi tunes in to the news. It was reported that a young woman was found dead in her car. The said car was seemingly set ablaze.

Consequently, Yoo Mi once again began to use the elevator. Her confidence is back after confirming that Hyun-joon was the one who was found dead in the accident.

Anna Mid-Series Musings

A Penny For Some Thoughts

Anna episodes 3 and 4 answer questions that the first two episodes caused. However, bits and pieces of the execution are still questionable. In particular, it would be so anti-climatic if Hyun-Joo did die all of a sudden.

Not only that, but so far, the plot premise is predictable and cliché. The redeeming factor is how good Bae Suzy is in portraying her character. She proves in this series that she is a versatile actress. That does not only excel in internalizing sweet or fun characters.

Witness where Bae Suzy’s web of lies will take her character in the new thriller drama “Anna”. Episodes are available exclusively on Coupang Play.
