Convinced that he should push his feelings for Yeo-reum, Jae-hoon willingly proposes to give his all to his best friend in the 3rd week of Love Is For Suckers.
Sticking true to his character, unfortunately, Yeo-reum knows best that amidst her current emotional mess, jumping into another relationship is not an answer.

Love Is For Suckers Episodes 5 and 6 Highlights
Life goes on for Yeo-reum. Discovering her groom has impregnated a woman, she decided to cancel the wedding. Apparently, In-woo is not in a relationship with the woman, but one night of stupor led to the pregnancy.
Learning it from the woman and realizing In-woo planned to reveal it after the wedding, she tells him that she can’t lie in front of their families and friends. Bearing the weight of her decision, she announced the wedding is over.
“I can’t go anywhere. I want to disappear.”
Nursing her broken heart, Jae-hoon stays by her side and takes her to a rest house owned by one of Jae-hoon’s former patients.
Interestingly, her situation mirrors how when Jae-hoon was in the most depressing moment of his life, she was also there for him. She encouraged him to stay on the top floor of the house she’s renting as it was recently vacated and keeps him company for him to snap out of his slump.
Three years after, Jae-hoon does the same thing to help Yeo-reum with the pain of calling off her marriage – the one and only thing she ever so wanted.
Unfortunately, when it rains it really pours, Yeo-reum faces another problem as one of the contestants of Kingdom of Love season 2 backs out. Pressed with time, Chae-ri her adorable nemesis, asks her to resolve the issue or her whole team will suffer the consequence.
Chae-ri insists on getting Jae-hoon on board for the show to be safe. Fortunately for Yeo-reum, his friend agrees when she requested him to do it.
Finding time to call her mom, Yeo-reum reassures her that she’s okay and she can still find happiness in her life. She also thanks her for raising her well to be brave and optimistic.
“It might stain your image. I’m not in the position to protect you but I just don’t have any strength to hold on. So, I need you very much.”
Left with no choice, Yeo-reum asks Jae-hoon to appear in the show. She honestly confesses how the show might hurt him but she is on the edge and she really needs him to do it. Staring at his favorite woman’s helpless face, Jae-hoon agrees easily.
Cameras officially roll for the second season of Kingdom of Love. Showing her soft side, Chae-ri reminds the writer to tell the staff members not to talk about Yeo-reum’s canceled wedding.
Surprisingly, Jae-hoon finds Ji-yeon as one of the cast members. Chae-ri right away picks on the familiarity she sensed between the two.
Yeo-reum gives Jae-hoon quick tips on how he can survive the show which makes Chae-ri’s eccentric mind think something again.
The first filming day continues with members picking clothing to give to their preferred partners to join the poolside party. Those who won’t be picked can join, only if they wear the undergarments provided by the show.
Unfortunately, Ji-yeon was not picked and on her way to the side of the members, she accidentally slips. Quick to react, Jae-hoon jumps into the pool to cover her with his jacket.
“If you need a friend, I’ll be your friend. If you need a man, I’ll be your man.”
It turns out that Chae-ri is already set on making Ji-yeon the main character of the show. She has the team cover the members to build rapport and get stories they can use to better the show. She also tips Ji-yeon to fall down into the water.
At night, Yeo-reum and Jae-hoon meet for some beer. The latter voices out how he should have done something more about her marriage. Belatedly, he also tells her to take advantage of him as a friend. He also offers himself wholeheartedly to be his man.
After the first filming day, Ji-yeon and Jae-hoon meet again. She suggests that he can use her and create a love line as she learns the reason why he rejected her is because of Yeo-reum.
On the next shooting day when the members introduce each other, Ji-yeon surprises the cast and crew with her honesty about how she got rejected by a man that’s why she applied for the show. Unexpectedly, she meets the guy again and names Jae-hoon. She also vocally declares she’s still willing to pursue him while filming.
“What is there with flings? There is nothing to end nicely with!”
Eyeing to be the main love line in the show, John Jang hopes to work with Tae-mi. But he sensed that she likes Jae-hoon. Sharing his knowledge about Jae-hoon, the production team learns of John and Yeo-reum’s fling.
That is after Yeo-reum met with In-woo pleading for a last chance. She gives him an ultimatum that they can no longer go on. Finding a spot to pour her tears, she weeps silently alone. But after the tears, she answers Chae-ri’s inquisition about John Jang’s claim.
Honestly giving her side, that she asked Jae-hoon to give John a lesson for being a jerk, Chae-ri understands but her crazy mind is already drawing something to spin intrigue in the show.
Learning about In-woo’s visit, Jae-hoon and Yeo-reum meet. She also takes the opportunity, to turn down his proposal and conveys she wants him as a friend at that moment.
The next day, the show sets up a wrestling game for the boys. The winner gets to pick someone for a date. Emerging victorious, Jae-hoon goes to Ji-yeon to reconfirm if it’s okay for her to be used. Ji-yeon totally agrees so he picks her among the girls.
Love Is For Suckers Episodes 5 and 6 Musings
Touching on the reality of how hard for friends to cross the friendship line and become lovers, Love Is For Suckers resonates not only with the same people who can relate to that story. But with anyone who has past relationship hang-ups or unresolved life pains.
That saying that friends can be lovers but lovers can’t be friends attests to the reality that trust and honesty are conditions to be met in those scenarios. A perfect example of this is Yeo-reum who firmly turns her back on In-woo.
Hopefully, she can open her heart again to Jae-hoon who really deserves it. Her decision not to accept Jae-hoon’s love proposal totally makes sense. At any rate, she has 5 weeks more to contemplate, so it’s definitely no biggie for us viewers.
Continuously serving profound lessons on love and career, the series reminds us that living life to the fullest means accepting the boring, painful, and blissful parts of it.
Keeping its pragmatic approach, the narrative layers real actions to situations that anyone can experience. Like how Jae-hoon knows that his mere presence is enough to put a salve on Yeo-reum’s heart and vice versa.
Another example is how Yeo-reum, albeit difficult, calls her mother to reassure her that she’s okay and will be okay after her wedding fiasco. She embodies a character who faces her problems right away, and she does not convince herself that she’s fine but feels the pain so she can move on from it.
For the energy and lessons, the escape route presented to break the marriage might not be coherent in the narrative. But since most viewers root for Jae-hoon, the situation is deemed to be a plot blessing.
Still, the honesty of the storytelling and the thought-provoking screenplay really make the excitement of the series flow. We love how like the show, the drama is looping viewers to the secrets and emotions of the characters by clearing misconceptions right away. In a way, it’s impressive to think of how the drama is reeling us into the inner drama of the show featured in the series.
If Jae-hoon proceeds with his plan B to utilize jealousy, it inevitably will hurt Ji-yeon who is totally smitten by him. But for what it’s worth he can be forgiven.
