Rookie Cops Episodes 3 & 4 Key Moments
The true owner of spycam
Knowing the clue is right under her nose, Eun-kang finds the spycam charger and brings it to the training team’s office. But Han-na attempts to stop her. She was later questioned by Professor Cha, but she makes an excuse that doesn’t add up.
The professor shows how the charger found in her possession fits the spy cam. She was advised to explain at the disciplinary meeting. Pleading she did the illegal act out of good intentions, the decision is for her to be expelled.
Remorseless, she counters bringing out her experience outside since she’s no longer a KNPU student. Pressed with the school’s current situation, Han-na was put on probation instead of getting expelled to avoid public scrutiny.
Unfortunately, things are not going well with her since she inadvertently missed a general assembly. She receives harsh punishment that led her to be hospitalized.
A united move for a rightful change
Braving the odds, Eun-kang goes to the dean’s office to convey that personal grudge caused Han-na’s overboard punishment. But the dean makes sound advice on how patience is part of the training. She cites examples of how in the real police world, they will deal with cruel and remorseless perpetrators or psychopaths.
When Eun-kang voices out her concern about how she got almost expelled, but Han-na only received probation, she was not given the real reason.
At the group assembly, the training corps leader questioned who visited the dean’s office. Coming clean, Eun-kang admitted right away earning the ire of the leader.
Refusing to bow down, she was almost slapped but Seung-hyun stopped it. They refuse to receive punishment even when their batchmates struggle with the physical toil. Reciting KNPU’s motto, one by one the freshmen voices the same affirming how they agree against school violence.
Their united efforts caused the dean to reform the training program from a military approach to a more humanistic one. Officially completing the training program, the rookie cops attend the ceremony as they proceed to the formal student life.
At the celebratory dinner, Eun-kang spots his oppa crush Jang Ju-chan, also KNPU’s student council leader leaving the hall. She follows and sees him on an intimate encounter with one of the training officers.
First School Vacation
Broken-hearted Eun-kang can only wallow on alcohol after Ju-chan told her to keep his relationship secret. She troubles Seung-hyun for cleaning when she threw up.
The next day, she was also late on first day of the class and was asked to make a reflection later by Professor Cha. Her life can’t get any better because her new roommate is Han-na.
Losing her inspiration, she whines at how meaningless their campus life is to Seung-hyun. The latter is disappointed hearing it from her. Apparently, when she got drunk, she blurted out her reason for going to school was because of Ju-chan. So he knows, her broken heart is the culprit of her sudden disinterest to study.
Fortunately, school break is sealed for the students who go to their respective plans. Unlucky for Eun-kang she returns home to a messy room with her family turning it into a stock room. Back at Seung-hyun’s house, he got a not-so-worthy pep talk from his father for his deed in contributing to the dissolution of KNPU’s training program.
Reasoning out that respect is a virtue they need, his father insisted instilling fear sets order in the society.
The man who gave the spycam
When Professor Cha asked Han-na to confess to the person who gave her the spycam, she still refuses to budge. That is because the police who asked her a favor once saved her life when she retaliated after getting bullied.
That man is Detective Kang who is bent to know the truth about the death of his friend, Kim Hyun-soo (cameo by Kwak Si Yang). Hyun-soo used to be a cop and also the brother of Kim Tak (Lee Shin Young).
Receiving a call from Detective Kang, she was given an order connected to the cop’s ongoing goal to bring down Wi Gi-yong, Seung-hyun’s dad.
Being responsible for what you choose
Tak spends time with his grandmother who runs a small food store. He makes sure to help so she can get more rest. His grandmother checks how his school is and he cheekily responds it’s easy than judo. Not hiding her woes about the career he chose, Tak remains firm with his decision.
While on break, Seung-hyun and Dae-il go for a blind date and was scammed. Witnessing a woman crying for help because of her bag being stolen, Seung-hyun didn’t think twice to help.
Fortunately, Eun-kang who was taken by her sister for a salon treat was also nearby and helped stop the culprit. After the break, the students return. Spotting Eun-kang returning, Seung-hyun smiles inwardly.
Eun-kang also confesses to Ju-chan her feelings and promises him that she’ll move on. Unknown to her, Seung-hyun was eavesdropping and beamed when he heard her genuine confession and determination to appreciate her life as an aspiring police officer.
Rookie Cops Episodes 3 & 4 Musings
This week in Rookie Cops more details about the lead characters hint at how their lives will intertwine in the future. We also see a potential father and son dispute between Seung-hyun and his father. Their personal principles evidently differ.
Chae Soo Bin phenomenally inspired us with her shining moments in these episodes as well. It’s nice she listened to Seung-hyun’s advice of being responsible for the choices we make.
“All my life, I’ve been struggling not to be left behind. That’s why I’m going to change my perspective from now on. My future is like a blank page. And I’d like to plan it from here.”
This is an excerpt from the reflection letter she gave Professor Cha and it was such an encouraging piece especially for people losing the motivation to their goals.
Hopefully, Eun-kang can also thaw Han-na’s cold heart so she can also realize how the walls she set up around her won’t do her any good.
Sealing the friendship circle we can look forward to hanging out this week, more of their backstories and campus life would surely be unfurled.
For a youth-school drama, this is so far realistic but not overreacting while covering the usual conflicts inserted in the story. Presenting school violence, the arguments on the mandatory harsh training were well explained.
Moving forward, more details on Detective Kang’s grudge will be tackled, probably the main conflict to be resolved in the narrative.
Before that, we hope to join the squad as they live their campus life at KNPU.
