It’s the sweet and calm before the storm in the latest episodes of Rookie Cops!
Reaching the middle mark of the series, we saw a new addition to the friendship circle of our favorite KNPU newbies. Romance and jealousy also made the 4th week of Rookie Cops such an endearing treat.

Rookie Cops Episodes 7 & 8 Key Moments
Last week, we were left with a sweet cliffhanger. It turns out that Seung-hyun didn’t go for the kill but just noticed an eyelash on Eun-kang’s face.
The spark is definitely there but appears to be shy in pushing them to acknowledge it. This results in awkward moments between them.
Meanwhile, Ju-chan inevitably breaks up with his girlfriend as she chose to study abroad and follow her dream of becoming a fashion designer.
Professor Cha learns of Kim Tak’s identity as his junior’s younger brother and notices his closeness with Seung-hyun.
After delivering a lecture at KNPU, Seung-hyun’s father learned of his son’s recent predicament. Subtly chiding his son to choose friends, but Seung-hyun responds that he will own up to his choices.
Jealous Seung-hyun
Bothered by the knowledge of Eun-kang and Ju-chan going for dinner, Seung-hyun patiently scouts nearby restaurants. When he finds them, he pretends it to be a coincidence and did not hesitate to join them.
He is not aware that Eun-kang’s intention to brighten up Ju-chan is because of his recent breakup. Misreading the situation, he thought Eun-kang is still not over Ju-chan when she has cleared with their senior that she romantically likes Seung-hyun.
Choosing to cave in, he did not respond to Eun-kang’s calls until the D-Day of KNPU’s sports festival.
KNPU Sports Festival
It was a fun sports fest for KNPU. But the highlights of the day are the triathlon and trench fight events. Ju-chan and Seung-hyun were on the same team. They manage to overturn the tables with their plan b.
Eun-kang who was trained By Seung-hyun for triathlon has an injured toe but she persists to finish the race. However, when the rain poured, she slipped and it aggravated her situation.
Asking help from Han-na made them enter a verbal spat and her cold roommate chose to go on without her. Thankfully, Eun-kang’s retrospective words hit Han-na making her return to finish the race together.
Finally, Han-na breaks her cold front, succumbing to become part of the group.
Talent Show
Capping off the festivity, stage productions were prepared by the seniors and freshmen delighting the audience. While the seniors transformed into girl group members dancing to Sistar’s “Up and Down” – the F4 freshman composed of Seung-hyun, Tak, Dae-il and Bum-ju charmed the audience with their manly dance number.
Mesmerized by Seung-hyun, Eun-kang can’t help but blush. After the F4 number, Seung-hyun finds Eun-kang in the audience and leads her to come with him for a talk.
Inside a telephone booth, he asks about what she wants to tell him. Afraid she will reveal liking someone else, Seung-hyun scoops a kiss. Just then, fireworks crack and whistle – he goes for another kiss, and she returns it nice and sweet.
Rookie Cops Episodes 7 & 8 Musings
That moment involving Han-na was an unprecedented heartening moment this week in Rookie Cops. Student Council officer Eom Hyuk emphasized one of the core values a police officer should have – not abandoning fellow police officers.
It is something that can be connected to the projected conflict involving Seung-hyun’s father, Professor Cha and Tak’s brother. The latter was hinted to have suffered an unfair death inferred to be under Wi Gi-yong’ s order.
Aside from the main love story, we can also look forward to how the love line will develop between Ari and Tak. We won’t mind if Ari will take charge to form love pairing #2 in the series.
Good move for the series of not prolonging the anticipation for the expected romance between Seung-hyun and Eun-kang. Down the stretch, viewers need cushion for the heartbreaking conflict’s revelation. We need endearing scenes from them before the emotional and unnerving confrontations.
Rookie Cops has maintained its spirited run since its premiere. The series is truly giving insightful and genuine perspectives of aspiring police officers studying at KNPU.
Notably, the imaginary worldbuilding is unhurried but is making sure to leave meaningful messages while utilizing the strengths of the main cast. Now that the friendship circle is upgraded with Han-na in it, we can look forward to more of their adventures along the way.
