Shooting Stars Episode 8 Highlights
Tae-Sung’s Mother
As Tae-Sung confesses his feeling toward Han-Byeol, her mother suddenly pays him a visit to his home. She hugs her but Tae-Sung isn’t pleased with what’s happening.
Instead of offering her mother to come in, Tae-Sung just closes the door; ignoring her mother. There’s suddenly a bit of flashback in the scene that gives us a hint of why he hates his mother.
When Tae-Sung is still a child, Shi-Woo (his mother) used to be a popular actress. Many people are craving to take a picture of her. In the flashback, little Tae-Sung is in the midst of the crowd and keeps calling her “mom” but she doesn’t bat an eye.
Moreover, when he is already a teenager, there has been an accident but her mother was too busy to take his call.
Han-Byeol’s Flying Thoughts
On the other hand, Han-Byeol cannot believe that Tae-Sung confessed to her. Even in their college days, she knows that he is so perfect and only popular girls suit him.
However, even before, Tae-Sung’s eyes are only for Han-Byeol. Now that she already knows his feelings, she thought that maybe it was part of his acting. Even during her work, her mind flies because she also thinks that Soo-Hyuk also confessed to her and is waiting for her answer.
Tae-Sung tries to be civil with Han-Byeol. However, Han-Byeol is a bit tensed when he’s in the area. Amidst these awkward moments, Han-Byeol attends one of Tae-Sung’s shoots wherein he needs to do a kissing scene.
On the other hand, Soo-Hyuk also tries to not make Han-Byeol uncomfortable and still waits for her answer. He even asks Han-Byeol if she’s okay to have dinner with him.
Is it Mutual?
With all the happenings, Han-Byeol is still confused about Tae-Sung’s confession. Since she liked him before, maybe her heart still skips a beat whenever Tae-Sung is doing something fluttering.
Moreover, Tae-Sung’s rumored ex-girlfriend Ha-Jin (cameo by Moon Ga Young) saw Tae-Sung again after a long time. She informs Tae-Sung that Han-Byeol is the one who uploaded the article about them dating.
Ending the episode, Tae-Sung is waiting for Han-Byeol to come to see him and is excited to give her his gift. Han-Byeol also rushes to go outside.
Shooting Stars Episode 8 Musings
Since we’re in the middle part of Shooting Stars, Han-Byeol and Tae-Sung’s romance is still yet to come. Our anticipation is also yet to elevate because the little fluttering moments in the last episodes are not sufficient to satisfy our hearts.
Since two men confessed to Han-Byeol on the same day, we can’t deny the fact that this is a bit torturing, especially when she’s still confused about what she’s feeling.
Soo-Hyuk’s mindset not to rush Han-Byeol in making a decision is surely a green flag that would really put her in a dilemma.
On the other side, we also saw Tae-Sung’s relationship with his mother. Well, this plot element is not new since a perfect man in K-Dramaland cannot be fully “perfect” because there’s always something about his past. We still don’t know what happened before but Tae-Sung should face his mother so that his baggage would be dropped-off.
If truth be told, the lead pairing’s chemistry needs boosting. The slow development is beginning to drag the narrative.
