Surely Tomorrow Episodes 7 and 8 Highlights
“It was the day of Ji-yeon’s wedding.”
As we start this week, our leads are back together. They are overjoyed to have each other and don’t bother to think about anything else, not the past nor the growth they need to do to maintain their relationship this time.
Rewinding to 2009, two years after the first breakup, Gyeong-do was serving in the army. Hearing that Ji-woo would be in Korea for her sister’s wedding, he switched with a colleague and took a break that day. But without an invitation, he couldn’t enter and waited in the cold for hours.
In the end, Gyeong-do couldn’t see Ji-woo and got wasted. But unbeknownst to him, Ji-woo watched him from afar as he drank with their friends, but couldn’t approach him. She also went to his base the next day, but Gyeong-do was working off-base. Ji-woo hesitated a lot while filling out the visitation paper, but she looked disappointed to have heard he wasn’t there. In the present, Gyeong-do learns the entire story and is happy to realize it was actually Ji-woo who visited him that day.
“If I were you, I would look into the informant first.”
We are then treated to a hilarious sequence as Ji-woo’s ex-husband makes her a second proposal with a fancy ring. Gyeong-do’s jealousy hits the ceiling. And it doesn’t help that the ex-husband dropped by when Ji-woo was outside, and Gyeong-do had to pass on the ring himself.
The ex-husband accused Gyeong-do of setting him up with a scandal so that he could date Ji-woo after their divorce. But everyone, minus him and Ji-woo, knows that it is Ji-yeon’s husband’s doing.
“Every time he makes a crucial decision in his life, he is let down.”
Meanwhile, Ji-woo learns that Gyeong-do renounced the overseas training to stay with her. She feels awful about it. More so because he was up for a promotion in the past, but it was canceled because he was treated for alcoholism. Bringing up the training, Ji-woo argues she can’t tell Gyeong-do to go, as she is finally happy to have him around. And he is just relieved because she is happy.
For her new job gift, Gyeong-do helps Ji-woo reunite with her old chauffeur, the one who used to drive her around in the past, and the only driver she felt comfortable with. Ji-woo can effortlessly buy imported cars or luxurious items. But Gyeong-do creates a brighter world for her, one that only he can make.
“It isn’t like I don’t like you.”
In other news, Ji-woo has a meaningful encounter with Gyeong-do’s mother. The mood is awkward and Ji-woo isn’t sure how to address Gyeong-do’s mother. But the latter eases the tension and makes it clear she doesn’t dislike Ji-woo. When Ji-woo breaks the news that they are dating again, Gyeong-do’s mother doesn’t frown upon it but we can tell she isn’t all that fond of it either. She is rightfully worried about her son. And no one can blame her after everything Gyeong-do went through in the past.
Ji-woo’s first project at work includes scouting a renowned designer who happens to be in Spain for vacation. Roping Gyeong-do into it, the two of them head there to meet the designer. But they are captured on camera by a paparazzi sent by Ji-yeon’s husband. Unsurprisingly, the photos fall into Ji-woo’s ex-husband’s hands and he spills the beans about her being an illegitimate child. Which is just the kind of leverage Ji-yeon’s husband needs to put the two sisters under his thumb.
Arriving in Spain, our leads hear that the designer went to another city but would come back the next day. However, as they look around the city, they bump into her, to their sheer excitement.
Surely Tomorrow Episodes 7 and 8 Musings
Nothing much happened this week except for Ji-woo starting to work and Gyeong-do figuring out Ji-yeon’s husband’s schemes to worsen his wife’s illness through spiking her coffee with medicine that causes damage to the nervous system as one of its side effects. Actually, that medicine might be the reason Ji-yeon developed Alzheimer’s in the first place, and her husband might be the one who caused Ji-yeon’s illness as part of his long-term scheme.
Gyeong-do keeps urging Ji-yeon to tell Ji-woo the truth, but she keeps putting it off, and we can’t help but imagine how this secret is going to blow up in her face. Now that our leads are dating, it is time for the drama to induce tension. But both Ji-yeon’s illness and the chaebol drama feel flat. So, we hope the drama focuses on inner struggles instead, as it is far more intriguing.
