Tomorrow Episodes 3 & 4 Key Moments
“Failure means you should try again, Jun-woong.”
Officially joining Gu Ryun’s team, Jun-woong receives the mission report for the next living person they need to save. Afraid that Jun-woong will allow his personal feelings to cloud his judgment, Rung-gu inquires of Gu Ryun whether it is advisable not to let him join the case.
During a flashback to their high school years, Jun-woong recalls the time when he first met Namgung Jae-soo. Unintentionally helping him from the bullies, Jae-soo and Jun-woong became friends afterward.
With his determination to save his closest friend unwavering, Jun-woong confronts Jae-soo. However, his friend does not recognize him due to Rung-gu changing his identity.
“It feels like everyone’s moving ahead and I’m the only one who’s lost my way. Like I’m the only loser. Like I’m the only standing still.”
Planning to make Jae-soo go outside his house, Gu Ryun and Rung-gu try by disguising themselves as those who spread the good word. Regrettably, such a strategy did not succeed for Jae-soo.
Given Jun-woong believes that no one would open their doors to cult members in the present day, he devises another method for Jae-soo to leave the house.
Receiving a familiar text message from an unknown number, just as Jun-woong expected, Jae-soo rushes outdoors. He consequently proceeds directly to the hospital where Jun-woong’s body is currently residing.
Since he avoided reading the basic rules in the contract that applied to his case, Jun-woong wasn’t aware that he would die if he came too close to his own body.
Joining Jae-soo’s company, feeling even more disheartened knowing his friend is still in a coma, Jun-woong tries to talk with him.
Discussing why he is the only one who does not make it while everyone else does, Jun-woong understands Jae-soo’s feelings. He also knows and feels that everyone else is improving and that he is the only one who has lost his way.
“Human memory is selective. It keeps what was good and discards the bad. It wraps up the past in nostalgia. Because that’s the only way you can keep on living.”
Traveling back in time, Jun-woong accompanies Gu Ryun to learn about the chicken Jae-soo ate with his father, which he mentions to him whenever he is having a hard time.
Unfortunately, Jun-woong discovers a painful memory from Jae-soo’s past. It is the period when Jae-soo’s father intentionally commits suicide in order to obtain the insurance money for him and his mother.
Unable to watch idly, Gu Ryun uses her power to stop the father’s death from happening.
“Are you the only one who failed? Others are struggling at the bottom just like you.”
Bringing some sense to Jae-soo’s father, Gu Ryun urges him to understand that death is not the solution to his problems. She continues to tell him that the insurance money his wife and son would receive after his death would not make his family happy.
On the other hand, Rung-gu closely watches Jae-soo in the present time since he has limited time since Jae-soo’s negative feelings keep increasing.
Having an idea of how to help the father and son, Gu Ryun and Jun-woong quickly located a chicken store. However, there is no open shop, and they stumble onto one named Zuma-dong.
Finding out that it is the director’s doing, Gu Ryun and Jun-woong prepare and make the chicken which they would give to the father and son in the past and present time.
“Their lives could have been in that much pain. They might not have had any other choice.”
Prior to establishing the Risk Management Team, Gu Ryun worked as an escort for the souls of humans.
Summoning Gu Ryun to escort the soul he prefers for her, Park Joong-gil observes what Gu Ryun would do to the suicidal human being.
To verify what others are saying, Joong-gil witnessed the truth that Gu Ryun is leading a team that saves those from committing suicide.
Gu Ryun correspondingly asserts that it was an order from the director a long time ago. She also tells him that humans are pushed to take their own lives since they could have been in unbearable pain.
Emphasizing suffering as the essence of life, Joong-gil argues that it is for humans to struggle and move forward in spite of their misery.
“Please let me save him. I’ll be the one to save Woo-jin this time.”
When they come across a runaway soul, Jun-woong and the team attempt to hide her from the Escort team due to her connection to their most current mission.
While attempting to ascertain additional information about Woo-jin, the Risk Management team lets the runaway soul rescue him. Gu Ryun, on the other hand, discusses it with Woo-jin alone to determine the other reason for his unraveling to that point. Woo-jin then bellows that he is the one who killed Na-young.
Tomorrow Episodes 3 & 4 Musings
Tomorrow episodes 3 and 4 astound us with their ability to use their choice of words to make a difference in someone’s life. Giving us solace in these trying times, the series’ messages so far enlighten us in a way that changes one’s perspective on choosing to live rather than to end their misery for good.
Furthermore, the concepts in these chapters are quite relevant today, especially as we face our daily struggles. Trying to survive our own inner battles, which we do not even acknowledge to others, is something that we should not take lightly.
We should be reminded, as has been the case with the father and son, that we are not alone. If we are weary and sometimes feel as if the world has turned its back on us, there is always someone willing to assist us in overcoming our difficulties.
Besides that, the latest episodes teach us that taking our own lives is not a solution, and never will it be to resolve our problems. There is always another means of dealing with it as long as we look at it from a different perspective or angle.
A Living Human’s Fate
Interestingly, Park Joong-gil and Gu Ryun’s arguments in episode 4 both make valid points on the fate of a living human being to strive and progress.
However, this does not negate the fact that humans require help, which leads us to support Gu Ryun in this case. Humans do seek assistance when their difficulties become too great to overcome on their own.
Finally, there are moments when we feel as though we are making no progress, as Jae-soo and Jun-woong did. What matters is that we continue to strive harder until we succeed, regardless of how many times we fail.
Don’t miss the heartening story of Tomorrow on Netflix!
