Twenty Five Twenty One Episode 11 Key Moments
“I guess childhood memories stick with you more.”
Coming back from their short trip to the beach, Hee-do sees the posted pictures from their trip at their hideout. Seeing all those, she puts in her name in those pictures she wants a copy of.
Meanwhile, Seung-wan notices how stressed her class is, except for Ji-woong, as they are preparing for college exams. Given that there is a sudden schedule of training, Yu-rim informs Ji-woong that she could not come to watch his band’s concert.
While training, Hee-do and Yu-rim see their teammate Ye-ji run outside their school’s gates. They get worried about her, and come to find her in the middle of the road.
In their conversation at the bus stop, Yu-rim reveals how she had known Hee-do even before she transferred schools. She shares how Hee-do inspired her to become better after losing a match when they were young.
Although she has won a match after her defeat with Hee-do, Yu-rim recalls how she did not feel happy when she saw Hee-do performing poorly.
“I don’t think not living your dream means you’ve failed at life.”
Grateful for Hee-do, Yi-jin treats her to a restaurant that his family used to frequent when he was young. They treasure that moment by describing the present scene they should remember in the future. Returning the favor in creating a beautiful memory, Hee-do brings Yi-jin to pick six times from a lucky draw sheet.
On his way to watch the 11 p.m. broadcast, Yi-jin meets Jae-kyung, who is already tipsy from her team dinner. He brings her a hangover drink, and they talk about their dreams. Compared to his senior’s wishes to make her news fun to watch, Yi-jin dreams of just doing well at present.
Noticing that the chairs her dad made are becoming worn out, Hee-do tells her mom that it needs to be fixed. However, her mom coldly tells her that it may not be fixable anymore.
Passing by a wood workshop, Hee-do asks the owner to wait since she would try to bring the chair to his shop. Having a sudden new flash, Jae-kyung fails to come home to Hee-do, and bring the chair together at the repair shop.
Even though there is a strong rain, Hee-do attempts to bring the chairs that need to be repaired outside, and sees her mom coming home with a phone call.
“I had to avoid it to survive and forget in order to live.”
Seeing how her mother neglected her request again, Hee-do confronts her for avoiding talking about anything related to her father. Hee-do also voices out how a news flash is always her mom’s priority over her dad even at his funeral.
Remembering that time, Jae-kyung recalls how her boss reminded her about her performance, and chose the news flash over her husband’s death just to prove her place in her career.
On his way home, Yi-jin sees Hee-do outside her house searching for her dad’s chairs. She cries into the arms of Yi-jin, thinking that her mom has already thrown it away.
Calming her down in a store, Yi-jin shares how he found Hee-do’s mom a role model in his career, but also felt otherwise after realizing what she has sacrificed in order to be great. Hearing those, Hee-do sees that somehow in a positive light her mother made Yi-jin feel inspired in his career.
Following what Yi-jin has said, Hee-do takes her piggy bank savings to the wood workshop to learn from the owner how to work with woods like what her dad has made.
“Life is long and fireworks are short.”
Ji-woong requests help from Yi-jin for his upcoming concert, so Yi-jin fetches Yu-rim and Hee-do after their training while hiding the real reason for his sudden visit to Coach Yang.
They enjoy the concert, and during the encore, Yi-jin is forced to stand in for a member and wears their school uniform. He is also brought into the broadcasting room, and reads over again his old script for the upcoming college exams. Inspired by those words, Seung-wan chooses to put him on-air to be heard by the students.
Enjoying the fireworks together at the rooftop, Ji-woong and Yu-rim come to announce that they are now going out after Ji-woong’s successful confession at his concert.
While working in the wood workshop, Hee-do sees her dad’s chairs again, and hears that her mother brought them there. Together with her mom, they visit the cemetery for her dad’s death anniversary, and express their honest feelings.
Twenty Five Twenty One Episode 11 Musings
Truly, some childhood memories stick longer than any other memory just as Yu-rim has said. Her character’s childhood has started to open up, revealing that she has known Hee-do for a long time even before Hee-do was ironically a fan of hers.
A lot of aspects of being a high senior have been shown in this episode, and the pressure that high schoolers face for college preparation is highlighted. Even though Seung-wan may have been inclined to her academics, she still looks out for the people around her.
Regardless of the time period, senior year is a dreadful time even though it should have been the time to enjoy the peak of one’s youth. One of the experiences that are cherished in those years is also the heart fluttering moments that make a sweet memory to remember as seen with Yu-rim and Ji-woong. Seeing the warmth in the eyes of Yi-jin, we can attest to his sincerity and mesmerizing presence.
Along with those enjoyable moments at youth are also quarrels with one’s parents. Hee-do’s feelings are valid since she was young to process grief, but her mom also needs to express her own honest feelings. What they truly needed was an honest conversation to comfort each other and a time to process grief together.
Seeing the ending scene of the episode, understanding and appreciation come to Hee-do’s mom after all those quarrels. What has been emphasized in this episode are all the fond memories created at present.
Talking all about those memories, this can spark curiosity on what may have happened to Yi-jin, Seung-wan, Ji-woong, and Yu-rim at the present time period.
