Twenty Five Twenty One Episode 4 Key Moments
”I don’t believe in anything to stay the same forever. Because believing in something like that sets expectations for how things should turn out.”
Although Hee-do has a cold relationship with Yu-rim, she still follows the request of Ji-woong in exchange for teaching her the choreography of a song.
Yi-jin visits his aunt’s house before his interview, and he discovers that his car is in the hands of his aunt. In the job interview, Yi-jin answers that gravity is the only constant in this world, which shocks the interviewer.
Feeling down, he drinks while recalling how he received money from their family friend who happens to be there when the results were announced.
Passing by, Hee-do spots drunk Yi-jin in front of his house. She tries to brighten up his mood by siding with him, and Yi-jin tells Hee-do that she makes him smile.
“I heard that every tragedy in life is a comedy if you see it from afar.”
Having the neighborhood see the sign that tells that Yi-jin failed his interview, people around treat him nicely.
Hee-do walks into the gym and loudly apologizes to her senior for training late at night. Through her exaggerations, she succeeds in making her senior allow her to train at night.
Getting chased by the man whom she hit with an umbrella, Hee-do takes her chances in getting a ride from Yi-Jin’s car. However, Yi-jin tells her to apologize first for announcing that he failed his interview, but Hee-do jumps at the seat of the car.
At the stoplight, the two talk about how their tragedies become comedies, and Yi-jin acknowledges how the sign Hee-do made helped him in feeling better about his failed interview.
Ji-woong and Yu-rim realize that they are headed to the same house, and they also meet Yi-jin and Hee-do who also just arrived. All of them are soaked from the rain, and they help Seung-wan’s mom pick up the loaches.
They all share a meal and take their first picture together. Back to the present, Hee-do reminisces about that time after looking at that picture on her mother’s phone. Meanwhile, Hee-do’s mom tells her that she has recently seen Yi-jin.
“Improve your perspective. That will help you to see yourself objectively.”
Yu-rim catches on Hee-do delivering her drinks every morning, and asks her to stop. Unable to defend herself, she asks Ji-woong to explain the situation to Yu-rim.
As she is about to undergo training for the national team, Yu-rim shares her worries with her dad. Following the favor of Hee-do, Ji-woong clarifies his feelings, explaining that the drink from Hee-do every morning is from him.
Before the tryouts, Coach Yang and Hee-do have a match, with Coach Yang winning. She gives Hee-do some last reminders and announces that her training is complete.
“That’s called having mental fortitude. Everyone wants to be as strong-minded like you. They don’t want to be scared of losing and failing.”
Meanwhile, in a meeting at her workplace, Hee-do’s mom argues that they should accept high school graduates as applicants for being a reporter given that the number of college students on leave is high.
After passing by the store of Yu-rim’s mom, Yi-jin drops by the gym Hee-do is training at. He surprises her with banana milk, and Hee-do welcomes him inside.
Trying on a fencing suit, Hee-do teases him that they should have a match together. Confident about winning this match, Hee-do tells Yi-jin that he wins if he can slash her in three minutes.
Distracting her about the release of Full House, Hee-do loses the match, and Yi-jin is granted a wish.
As the lights turn off, Yi-jin grabs Hee-do’s sword, and compliments her, telling her that he roots for her as she gives him hope in the times he feels down.
Twenty Five Twenty One Episode 4 Musings
Humility can truly bring you to a lot of places, evident with Hee-do succeeding in her training with her coach. For Yi-jin who is facing new experiences at present, it is crushing to receive help such as money after being at a place to always assist others.
This episode has presented the viewers with different sides of Yi-jin, and we could say that Nam Joo Hyuk looks great also wearing a fencing suit. His character is finally showing his vulnerable sides, and also opening up to the people around him. Such could help restore his morale in life.
An important lesson has been imparted in this episode with regards to the down moments in life. In times where we may feel failure is the only outcome in life, there is hope in the multiple trials we may attempt.
Although it was short, the words left by Hee-do’s mother about a bachelor’s degree are notable. For a period where education and the economy are unstable, accepting competent applicants regardless of their educational attainment is practical. Moreover, this also hints at the possible beginning of Yi-jin’s career.
Seeing the end of this episode, we get to see a sincere moment with Yi-jin and Hee-do. Although at present, it still appears that they did not end up together, there are still a lot of possibilities of how their relationship may have turned out. Nonetheless, a refreshing bond may still be seen as they grow closer.
