After revealing her identity, Yu-rim’s cold relationship with Hee-do turns a new page in Twenty Five Twenty One.
Mistaking Yi-jin as her friend from the virtual world, Hee-do avoids him as much as she could after feeling embarrassed with her confession. On the other hand, Yu-rim also avoids Hee-do, but later admits that she is Injeolmi. Yi-jin, who takes part in a special documentary, gives a definition of his relationship with Hee-do.

Twenty Five Twenty One Episode 9 Key Moments
“The tougher things are, the busier you need to be.”
Yi-jin corrects Hee-do on her belief that he is Injeolmi, but does not reveal that Injeolmi is Ko Yu-rim. However, Hee-do feels embarrassed for the words she said at their meet-up, which is why she avoids Yi-jin after it.
Hiding her identity from Hee-do, Yu-rim confuses Hee-do with her sudden change and actions. As requested by Coach Yang who is aware of Yu-rim’s situation, Hee-do gathers her teammates to eat at the snack bar Yu-rim’s family owns.
Nervous to enter the shop, Hee-do is welcomed by Yu-rim’s mother with a hug and a warm congratulatory message.
“You need to laugh in order to forget more quickly. And you need to forget in order to survive.”
Taking up a special documentary project on the recently concluded Asian Games, Hee-do becomes surprised to see Yi-jin at her school for a test shoot.
Yi-jin briefs Yu-rim and Hee-do on the documentary, and tells them to be natural as he does not expect them to act as the federation wishes the two would do. Hee-do casts her doubts on the project, but Yi-jin asks her to have faith in him.
Aware that Hee-do has been avoiding him, Yi-jin confronts her about it and hears her honest thoughts and feelings. Seeing her adorable reactions, Yi-jin smiles and becomes amazed at Hee-do’s honesty.
“What can feelings do for us? Feelings can’t pay off our debt.”
With the posted rankings on the bulletin board, Moon Ji-woong feels good to see his name ranked last as his name is alone together with Yu-rim who is one rank above him.
Back in her home, Yu-rim receives a phone from her mom, but she reacts negatively to the gift as it costs a lot of money. Her mom tells the importance of feelings, but Yu-rim refutes it considering the debt they have.
In their school’s washroom, Yu-rim overhears students gossiping about her family’s situation while also badmouthing her. About to leave the room, Hee-do comes out from one of the cubicles, and attacks the students talking about Yu-rim.
Yu-rim joins Hee-do, and cries after at Hee-do for always taking her side. She also apologizes and reveals that she is Injeolmi.
“I don’t need a rainbow.”
Meanwhile, Hee-do invites Yi-jin to her house as he is rushing to a phone for his news report. After his report, the two talk about their vague relation to each other calling it a rainbow, but Hee-do’s mom suddenly arrives home.
Shocked to see his superior, Yi-jin tries to side with Shin Jae-kyung, but she reminds him not to be too close to Hee-do as he is a reporter in the sports department.
Filming begins, and Yi-jin becomes confused with Hee-do and Yu-rim’s warm treatment for each other on camera, and realizes that Hee-do already knows about Yu-rim’s secret.
Despite his request not to shoot scenes that could harm the athletes, Yi-jin rushes to bring Hee-do to the hospital as she fell down in her repeated shot of a simultaneous touch with Yu-rim.
Riding a car together, they stop by to look at the rainbow, and Yi-jin defines to Hee-do their relationship as love.
Twenty Five Twenty One Episode 9 Musings
With her revelation as Injeolmi, Hee-do and Yu-rim’s wounded relationship takes a turn for a stronger one. Yu-rim finally finds a friend whom she can confide in unconditionally.
Experiencing a turbulent time with her family’s debt, Yu-rim’s situation truly makes it hard for her to love and have feelings. However, after her honest conversation with Hee-do, she has begun to warm up and reconcile with her mother.
Seeing how Yi-jin’s senior disregarded his request, Yu-rim and Hee-do are exposed to harm. Regardless of Yi-jin’s feelings for Hee-do, his senior is in the wrong for valuing ratings over his interviewees’ welfare.
Admitting her confusion with their relationship, Hee-do and Yi-jin begin in defining more clearly what their relationship is. Props to Yi-jin for making it clear to Hee-do since dabbling in undefined relationships is somehow irresponsible.
Risks may arise with their relationship due to their roles in life, but let’s see how it will unfold and how long it will last. Together with those new turns, we shall also expect to see more exciting scenes on friendship and love.
