Why Her

Why Her Episodes 5 and 6 Highlights

Previously, Soo-jae and Gong Chan tangle in an ambiguous connection that they still avert to confront. As time ticks for the Hansu Bio sell-off, Chairman Choi is in a bind and so is Han Ki-taek. They end up playing dirty by going to Soo-jae’s building to retrieve the evidence that she is under her care.

“Why is this happening to you? What kind of world do you deal with?”

In the nick of time, Gong Chan arrives at Soo-jae’s building and rescues her from the burglar. Going with her to the hospital, he questioned why she opted not to make a police report. Soo-jae activates her wall and tells him not to mind her business.

Unknown to her, Chan got the USB drive that the burglar lost when they scuffled. Inadvertently, he had involved Group 8 in investigating the content of the USB. Inevitably, they work to get pieces of evidence.

When Yoon-sang learned of his brother’s involvement, he rushes to their house but ends up confronting his father since Joo-wan was ordered to lie-low.

“Choose. Do you want me to ruin the big picture you’ve been painting with great effort? Or pay me for the sell-off of Hansu Bio for 70 million dollars.”

Apparently, not only Joo-wan but Han Ki-taek also thought of breaking inside Soo-jae’s lair. They were both at the place that night with Joo-wan’s thug aid eventually hurting Soo-jae.

Asked by Chairman Choi to meet, she sees Han Ki-taek who tried for an amicable talk but ends up bringing up a sour memory from Soo-jae’s past. Unfazed, Soo-jae responds with icy remarks and gives an ultimatum to ask Chairman Choi to meet her.

Getting what she wants Soo-jae demands 70 million won for her not to divulge the money-making trick Chairman Choi is trying to pull off.

She also cites her knowledge of the Bahamas account opened under her name without her permission which Chan noticed from the documents. Chairman Choi relents to Soo-jae’s request having no card to play.

Why Her

“Sometimes in life, you feel like only bad things keep coming your way. But if you wait for a little and look around you, you’ll see that good things are happening around you. And you’ll meet good people, too.”

Cho-gab finds Chan in the room where he keeps track of the case from his past life as Dong-gu. Chan shares that he’s happy with his new identity so his hyung pleads for him to let go of the past.

However, Chan is convinced that the murderer is not the one in prison. Cho-gab reminds him to come clean with Soo-jae as dragging his confession might not bring him good.

Soo-jae chats with her best friend about her frustration from being used by Chairman Choi to embezzle and launder money. Both feeling not good, Chan and Soo-jae meet at the restaurant. There, Chan again gives her reassuring words.

Looping in Group 8 to her plan of investigating the thug associated with Chairman Choi, Soo-jae let them sign up and also grant them one wish.

Except for Chan, all of them have wishes. Yoon-sang gives a cryptic condition that she should not date Chan.

While driving home, Soo-jae receives a phone call from Hong Seok-pal luring her to a place. Looking for him when she arrived, a big explosion erupts.

Why Her Episodes 5 and 6 Musings

Oh Soo-jae’s grudge towards Chairman Choi definitely runs deep as revealed in this episode. What’s interesting is how the villain knows he cannot act complacent towards Soo-jae.

Her name in the Bahamas account is shaping to be a crucial situation that can hurt her. Hopefully, her talk with Yoon Se-pil will serve as her buffer. Chairman Choi’s shrewdness is off the charts so she has to be careful.

Echoing Chan’s woes about unfortunate things that keep befalling Soo-jae, we hope this won’t linger long, or have a rest at least. Because her predicaments are literally exhausting to watch. While she retaliates smartly, a streak might cause the plot to feel circling.

If Hansu Bio is the main and pivotal focus of the narrative, it will make sense. But if there are succeeding arcs, I think it’s about time for it to go full circle when the series hits the middle mark.

Witness Soo-jae’s outwitting game to achieve her goal to be on top in Why Her on Viu!
