K-Drama Review “Kiss Sixth Sense” Shows Adequate Spectacle Of Love and Fantasy Good For One Time Watching Only

Kiss Sixth Sense

Stunning in the beginning episodes, Kiss Sixth Sense, unfortunately, lost its footing along the way.

Despite not being able to sustain the initial breezy romance, the series offers more than some magic and mystery. Insecurities, uncertainty, and misunderstanding of mature relationships are fairly reflected in the story.

Correspondingly, the unique concept coupled with elements of murder and crime encourages viewers to stay loyal to watching the series.

  • Main cast– Yoon Kye Sang, Seo Ji Hye, Kim Ji Seok

Kiss Sixth Sense Plot Recap *Spoiler Alert

Fantasy has always been a prominent style in Korean dramas. The superpower of Ye Sul (Seo Ji Hye) about seeing a glimpse of the future when she touches someone with her lips is a refreshing concept. The unique storyline opens with the lead showing her ability to see the upcoming events.

She works in an advertising firm Zeu ad and is very hard working. Her boss Cha Min-hu (Yoon Kye Sang) is a very arrogant and strict senior but the best at what he does. People often say he is psychic (which is true because he also has superpowers).

His abilities are of hyper-sensitive sense with a side effect of fainting and headache if he kisses someone. The exception is our very charming female lead.

The protagonist’s love life had been in disarray because of her unique ability. She never sees her happy ending with a man. One day, she accidentally kisses her boss and the future shows them sleeping together.

It changes the dynamic of their relationship. She confesses about her ability and asks him to sleep with her so that they can move on. But in a way, they complete each other.

Kiss Sixth Sense

“It was my first time seeing myself happy in the future that I foresaw.”

The office romance and opposite attract formula started a bit slow in the show but showed a creative relationship angle. Both the leads used their superpowers to communicate in the office stealing moments for themselves.

The beautiful pair looked cute and cozy in the closed premises of the office building. With the entry of a stalker and her ex-lover, it’s exciting to see the pair tackling modern love problems with their abilities.

The mystery behind these superpowers is revealed during the climax. A shared tragedy in childhood in the presence of a super blood moon resulted in these abilities. They are rewarded with these unique superpowers to protect each other.

Kim Ji Seok and Lee Joo Yeon as the second leads are fascinating. They both bonded over beers while badmouthing their exes. Eventually, they also became each other’s destiny.

Kiss Sixth Sense Highlights and Drawbacks

Superpowers That Spur The Romance

The duo looked super cute while hiding their relationship from coworkers and using their superpowers to get close to each other.

The scene of a super blood moon with a frozen lake and Min-hu trying to rescue Ye-sul with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation surely seems magical and beautiful. The ability vanishes when the turn of events repeats itself.

Ye-sul’s ability made her question her perfectly normal relationship, leading to a breakup. She can’t pursue her relationship knowing it’s going to end badly, and it makes her feel helpless.

The angle where she breaks up with her ex-lover because she misinterprets the future makes it heartbreaking. What would have happened if she had not had this ability?

Character Growth Before and After the Relationship

The change in personality of both the lead after they discover their soulmate is fast and almost unbelievable. They both seem naturally comfortable around each other.

Nonetheless, it was enjoyable to see the child-like emotions of leads when they are in love. The male lead’s straightforward and bold approach impresses at many points.

Kim Mi Soo

Unfortunately, Kiss Sixth Sense got popular for one more reason. It included the final screen presence of actress Kim Mi-soo, an aspiring actress who lost her life to suicide earlier this year.

Her notable work includes The School Nurse Files and Snowdrop.

Funny Ending That Felt Faintly Unsatisfactory

Rather the conventional marriage set-up. The drama has a different ending where both male and female lead is adjusting to living their lives without their superpowers. They fight, argue, and romance just like a normal couple.

It gives freshness to the ending as it shows the normal relationship that the leads craved for their whole lives.

In Kiss Sixth Sense, serious crime thriller and rom-com didn’t blend smoothly and felt a little lost.

The portrayal has failed to support the fresh angle and unique concept. The lead suffered more than she enjoyed her abilities. The last episodes felt rushed with the murderer on the loose and the childhood tragedy repeating itself.

Kiss Sixth Sense Series Musings

Kiss Sixth Sense shows the love between two people with different personalities. Even without superpowers, it’s hard to trust someone and give them your heart. The drama depicts the angle of modern love and uncertainty a little too well.

It presented a story of a relationship and love with inhibitions and vagueness and how with time we want to live in the present and see how things go without worrying about the future.

Making mistakes and learning from them throughout relationships improves female lead’s stand from the past. Communication and comprehension are an important part of a relationship and Ye Seul has shown its tremendous effect on the relationship.

The story had a rocky start and barely holds itself towards the end. The storyline was 12 episodes so it’s a great watch for some light romance with a hint of suspense.
