Lovestruck in the City Quick Plot Recap
Six individuals are invited to an interview program, wherein they tackle love and relationships. Taking part in the program, architect Park Jae-won (Ji Chang Wook) recalls an unforgettable vacation he had.
He reminisces about the time he took a month’s leave from his work, and spends his vacation surfing in Yangyang. There, he meets a girl named Yoon Seon-a (Kim Ji Won), who is free-spirited and easygoing. They fall in love and live together for two months, but Jae-won has to leave as he is already being called for work.
Despite having clear plans on where to meet again, Seon-a coldly cuts the relationship through a call. However, at present, they meet again, and Jae-won discovers Seon-a’s real name, as well as her painful past. To his surprise, Lee Eun-o is her real name, and she is a marketer who has close mutuals with Jae-won in Seoul.
Lovestruck in the City Series Peak Points
Supportive Childhood Friends
Lee Eun-o, Kang Geon (Ryu Kyung Soo), Suh Rin-i (So Ju Yeon) have been friends since kindergarten, and at present, they still meet up often to hang out. They all still have a close bond, and look out for each other. Their friendship is adorable and unbreakable.
When Eun-o disappeared for months, her friends proved how much they cared for her as they often visited her house and kept it warm. Moreover, they support each other’s lifestyles and maintain their tradition of candle lighting where they can open up about their honest situation.
Various Perspectives on Relationships
As the series features six individuals in the interview program, viewers get to hear various perspectives on a relationship. For a couple that has been together for a long time, Rin-i and Kyeong-jun have demonstrated that differences continue to arise despite knowing each other well. Kang Geon and Oh Seon-yeong’s breakup can also be something viewers could learn from.
Fleeting romances like Jae-won and Eun-o’s stress the importance of building one’s identity before entering into relationships. Eun-o’s past experiences call for a time of healing, and her choice to love again with an unstable sense of self has shown corresponding effects on Jae-won.
Encouraging Messages in Life
Lee Eun-o is a character who has experienced pain both in life and in love. Due to that baggage of emotions, she escapes the city to live a new life as Yoon Seon-a by the beach. Her character gives strength to people who may have been hurt by similar painful experiences.
Seeing how she was able to pick herself up by the end of the series, hope is given to those who relate to her character.
Lovestruck in the City Series Musings
To meet and fall in love right away within months of knowing each other seems ideal. However, Eun-o and Jae-won have proved that their connection is something special even though they started without getting to know everything about each other. Their romance is fast-paced, but somehow possess genuine feelings for each other.
Steamy romance scenes can be expected from this series, and the cast has performed well in their given roles. The relationships featured in the series have served valuable lessons not only in love but also in life in general.
Eun-o’s relationship with Jae-won happened too fast, and it proves how important it is to get to know each other before dipping into a relationship. Other than time, it is also important to establish one’s identity and respect the period of healing. Without those, people in a relationship, like Jae-won, are likely to be hurt and left in the dark.
Kyeong-jun and Rin-i’s long-term relationship is adorable, and their bond together appears to be unbreakable. They have known each other for a long time, but they are not free from problems. Their differences in lifestyle have shown how a single factor could shake up a whole relationship.
The depth of Lee Eun-o’s character is notable, and it has emphasized the importance of having certainty with one’s self. Her experiences reflect the reality of life in the world of employment, as well as in dating.
Self-Acceptance Above Everything Else
Kyeong-jun and Rin-i, the couple I have rooted for, broke up by the end of the series. It may have hurt, but it presents a realistic perspective on dating. Kyeong-jun has insisted on changing the lifestyle of Rin-i, who has no plans of getting a permanent job. His denial of Rin-i’s lifestyle leads to their breakup.
Rin-i loves her lifestyle, and no one can change her mind. Her mom and Kyeong-jun have shown rejection to an aspect she cherishes. Her experience and Eun-o’s just prove that having a solid identity is crucial in relationships.
A relationship where you please others just to fit their standards is suffocating, so having a clear sense of self is truly necessary before entering a new commitment.
