Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist 2 Finale Week Highlights
“I will destroy that secret ledger for you. We cannot lose the perfect chance to finish off Yoo Se-yeob because of a few insignificant deeds.”
The Gyesoo Family’s efforts in collecting petitions and researching the misconduct of officials paid off. Despite the threats, Physician Gye and Man-bok successfully delivered the collected petitions to the royal grounds.
With that, the new Second State Councilor decided to lie low for a while. Furthermore, Physician Jeon volunteered again to find evidence at the clinic that they can be used against Physician Gye.
However, since Physician Gye knew that he was an accomplice of the District Governor, Physician Jeon needs to plead so he can return to the clinic. As soon as he arrived, Physician Gye already knew that he is after the ledger.
Instead of exposing his plans, he instead gave him a word of wisdom. Upon doing a background check, Physician Gye might also have looked up his past and learned that Physician Jeon has resentments towards Physician Yoo.
One time, Physician Jeon made a mistake that put a patient at risk. Physician Yoo was able to save the patient but his sharp words about Physician Jeon being incompetent dug deep into Physician Jeon’s heart.
Before leaving for Hanyang, Physician Gye instructed Lady Seo to guard Physician Jeon.
“Find a way to be alone with Yoo Se-poong and have him consume this.”
Now working without Physician Jeon, District Governor Ahn thought of a way to create a scandalous rumor about Physician Yoo. He threatens a hiding immigrant, Mak-jin, on sending her back if she won’t agree to make Physician Yoo consume a philter.
Fearing that she will be sent back, Mak-jin agreed and became unwell since then because of anxiety. Since she also signed a petition, the Gyesoo family thought her illness was because of it.
However, even though they destroyed her petition, Mak-jin still can’t properly sleep. Lady Nam-hee then reached out to her and revealed that she knew that she is also an immigrant from the same town as hers.
This gesture clears out Mak-jin’s doubt and decided not to fear the District Governor and disobey his order. As she fought back, the District Governor executed her and tried to bury her body.
At the same time, Lady Seo was tailing Physician Jeon when saw the crime scene and was attacked by the District Governor. Fortunately, Physician Yoo arrived quickly and stopped the District Governor.
As Lady Seo fights for her life, Physician Yoo was able to conquer his trauma and finally administered acupuncture.
“He will be sent into exile. The Medical Office shall pay for letting a murderer wreak havoc on the royal court. From the head royal physician to low-level medical officers, everyone will be replaced.”
During the District Governor’s killing hysteria, Physician Jeon protected Lady Seo and took a stab. In the hearing at the royal court, he also admitted all his crimes and exposed the Medical Office.
Even though he was exiled, Physician Jeon continue saving many lives in a different village. The King also reconstructed the Medical Office and made Physician Yoo the new head royal physician.
On the other hand, Lady Seo became an official physician and passed the examination with no mistakes. Due to her outstanding performance, the King appointed her to be part of the Royal Maternity Directorate.
Also, Physician Seo was tasked to take care of the pregnant queen. Due to suspected gestosis and labor dystocia, the Queen and her baby’s life were at risk.
Nevertheless, Physician Seo’s wisdom and knowledge saved both of them. Grateful for saving her life, the Queen requested the King to restore her status and make her legally unwed, to which the King agreed.
In addition to this, Physician Seo is the new head female physician.
At Sorak Village, Jang-goon has grown to be an intelligent and young physician, while Ip-bun found her right calling — a psychologist. On the other hand, Man-bok helps patients overcome their addictions, while Lady Nam-hee takes care of the children with her delicious meals.

After successfully giving justice to the late King’s death and exposing the crimes of the former Second State Councilor, the Gyesoo Clinic officially opens its door at Hanyang. However, the envious members of the Medical Office found a way to send them back to Sorak Village.
As the Gyesoo Family returns to their village, threats, corrupt schemes, and jealousy follow them and challenge them individually. Along the way, they met patients that reflect on their own struggles and helped them conquer their dilemmas.

Poong-Woo Couple’s Elevated Chemistry
Contrary to the first season, the sequel is more exciting and thrilling because of the Poong-Woo Couple’s surging romance. Nevertheless, the subtle romance that the couple showed in the prequel greatly helped with the build-up of their love story.
Furthermore, their characters perfectly illustrated how loving and being loved by the right person changes an individual. We saw the mental conditions of Physician Yoo and Lady Seo before meeting each other.
In the sequel, it is evident that the wounds of these two characters are slowly healing. With what the drama has shown, it effectively communicated that love is beautiful when we’re with the right one.
With that sudden escalation of their romance, we hoped that the sequel of the drama should at least have more episodes as well, as prolonging it would be a fan treat.
A Reflective Narrative That Realistically Depicts Life
In every episode since the prequel, the drama never failed to make viewers cry with the stories it painfully yet beautifully tells. It also proved that health is indeed wealth no matter what your status is.
The drama helped viewers on enjoying and value one’s life. With the many stories it presented, the series specifically advocated mental health awareness.
Suicide and self-harm are very sensitive topics, but the drama bravely communicated them and also broke stigmas about mental health. Additionally, it highlights the importance of reaching out to someone.
The members of the Gyesoo clinic had their own traumatic pasts and mental health struggles. However, Physician Gye’s help changed their fate and supported them to overcome their past and enjoy the second life given to them.
In addition, Granny’s peaceful farewell also revealed that death is inevitable, and it should not be painful. The series reminded us that we should always surround ourselves with the people we love until the end of our days.
