Who Are You: School 2015 Quick Plot Recap
Separated during their childhood, Lee Eun Bi and Go Eun Byeol (Kim So Hyun) are identical twins that are now living two completely different lives. For Eun Bi, she lives in an orphanage and holds the children there dear to her heart. Despite her warm attitude, she is bullied in school and treated as an outcast by everyone, headed by So Yeong (Jo Soo Hyang).
Living and studying with prestige in a private school, Eun Byeol is a student that nobody can mess with given her strong attitude. Due to an incident, Eun Bi jumps off to the waters, but she is saved and wakes up in a hospital. Eun Byeol, on the other hand, becomes missing and is assumed to be dead.
For a while, she lives as Go Eun Byeol, where she meets her twin sister’s childhood friend Han Yi An (Nam Joo Hyuk), and also forms a friendship with Kong Tae Kwang (Yook Sung Jae). Realizing who she really is, Eun Bi tries her best to live the life of her identical twin Eun Byeol.
Upon living that life, truths about the incidents that have happened in the past are exposed. Mysteries are solved as people reappear to set the records straight with, and liable people take responsibility.
Who Are You: School 2015 Series Peak Points
Substantial Discussion on School Violence
At its beginning, viewers are shown the life of Eun Bi being bullied by a classmate of hers. From that point, various issues are shown wherein it was also highlighted how rich students easily walk away from their atrocities.
Showing life in a prestigious private school, both peer pressure and academic pressure are highlighted. Presenting the issues faced by students with their peers, they resort to masking their identity either through their money or connections in order to gain friends. While people are pressured to do well in their academics, it has been shown that there are students who take on measures such as sabotaging others’ work to reach their goals.
Not only are the students at fault in the issues presented in the series, but adults are also held liable for the outcome of the events presented. School directors, parents, and teachers who tolerate injustice by turning a blind eye on the wrongs of their students are part of the root problem. Due to their neglect, students who should be protected are exposed to harm, and problems with school life arise.
Unfolding Mysteries in the Plot
The school life that appears to be youthful is filled with mystery, and these are given light as the series progresses. With Eun Bi who jumped off in the waters, she is saved from drowning, and now lives the life of her identical twin. Aware of her identical twin’s existence, It was revealed that Eun Byeol was looking after Eun Bi even after their separation at the orphanage in their childhood.
For Eun Byeol and other people in her school who are haunted with mysterious messages, the truth of an incident that took place a long time ago is revealed. The resolution of that mystery gradually progressed to the revelation of the truth, holding the adults in the school liable to the event.
Given that every hint and clue took some time to be revealed, viewers may be hooked in speculating what could have made Eun Byeol tormented with guilt.
Clear Portrayal of Character’s Identity
In a classroom filled with various individuals, each person would have a distinct personality that they own. For Kim So Hyun who portrays both Eun Byeol and Eun Bi, she has proven her talent in acting as she has shown the difference between Eun Bi and Eun Byeol. Her facial expressions and eyes tell whether her character exudes warmth, or if she is acting like someone who is pretending to be somebody else.
The love triangle in the series with Yook Sung Jae and Nam Joo Hyuk’s characters has created a strong impression on its viewers, siding to the second male lead more often. Even though his family life is saddening, Tae Kwang is a character who is playful and cheeky. He provides comedic relief to Eun Bi as well as to the viewers, which makes him adorable.
Given that there are school bullies in the series, the cast members who portrayed these roles can truly rile up the viewers, proving their excellence in acting. People may sympathize with the hardships faced by Eun Bi, but there would also be scenes of redemption given the satisfying turn of events.
Who Are You: School 2015 Series Musings
Newer dramas have a lot to offer with regards to school life at present, but Who Are You: School 2015 has also offered a lot during its release. It has tackled relevant and rising forms of problems in school.
In the beginning, one would really feel bad for Eun Bi, and be enraged with the doings of So Yeong. However, seeing how Eun Bi mustered the courage, and Eun Byeol reappeared again at the right time, a confrontation scene can relieve your pent-up frustrations. Although So Yeong may be a detestable character, in real life, all we could hope for people like her is change and reformation.
Not only do students who take part in school violence should be held liable, but also authorities who tolerate and encourage these behaviors. Nobody deserves a traumatic and painful school life, and adults who guide students should be a model to own up to their mistakes instead of continuously supporting these wrongdoings.
Mainly the morals and school life reality has been the strongest point of this drama. The pairing who ended up together still feels mismatched because personally, Tae Kwang, the second male lead has an irreplaceable bond with Eun Bi more. Although both characters are played by the same actress, you’d still hope which character Eun Bi and Eun Byeol ended up with.
Cast members of the series are commendable, from the school bullies up to the male leads. For Nam Joo Hyuk who was just starting, he has done well in portraying his role, who is a swimmer. Yook Sung Jae’s character has caused an uproar as many have believed that he deserved more, and this can prove how effective his formed bond with Eun Bi is.
A Helping Hand Lessens the Burden of One’s Troubles
Excluding the twins separated at childhood plot, a lot can be commended with the relevance of the plot. The identical twin can be tolerable, but in the end, what will stick to its viewers are the drama’s lessons.
Reaching out to people, and checking up on them can mean a lot, and sometimes, it can save a life. As simple it may appear, a caring heart and ears ready to listen can brighten someone’s day.
