Work Later, Drink Now shows that we all have different circumstances in our everyday lives. However, a simple get-together after a long tiring day makes our hearts a lot warmer.

The drama tells the story of three single women in their 30’s who love to drink after work. Having different personalities, drinking soju, and eating their favorite food could never go long. The more they drink, the tighter their friendship is.

Work Later, Drink Now Quick Plot Recap (Spoilers Alert!)

The drama started with a man who is eager to have a blind date. Later on, he was very happy when his blind date agreed. The first woman is named Kang Ji-Gu. She works as a YouTuber, doing origami as her content.

Moreover, Ji-Gu has tomboyish vibes but is caring towards her friends. The man was startled because Ji-Gu drinks a lot but it seems that she can’t get drunk. The scariest part is she likes lukewarm soju.

As the man continues to search for a date, he now met Han Ji-Yeon, a very beautiful and decent woman. Ji-Yeon is also a yoga instructor and many men fall for her. The man thought that this woman can be compared to an angel.

When they started to drink, Ji-Yeon talks a lot and became childish. Ji-Yeon did many unusual and funny things that made the man embarrassed. However, the man was shocked again because Ji-Yeon also likes lukewarm soju and enjoys it a lot.

These three women are actually friends, Ji-Gu, Ji-Yeon, and So-Hee have been drinking buddies for a long time. After their work, the three make sure that they would eat and drink like there’s no tomorrow.

Work Later, Drink Now Peak Points (*Spoilers Alert)

Girl Power!

If you expect a full-blown romance drama, then Work Later, Drink Now might not be your type. I just love the simplicity of this drama and how it tackled how strong women are.

More than all the drinking scenes, the drama delves deeper into the friendship that was formed during these moments. These women have different personalities but they formed a genuine relationship.

It’s admirable how each of them is always available when they needed someone to cry into. Especially when So-Hee’s father died, Ji-Yeon acted maturely to support her mourning friend.

The drama gave a warm feeling knowing that having someone to rely on is such a blessing. These people stay with us with no condition and always got our backs no matter what the situation is.

Moreover, these women proved that they don’t need men to stand up for themselves because they can do it on their own. This just proves that women are as strong as men.

Friendship and Love in One Person

In the romance part, So-Hee finds Kang Buk-Gu (Choi Si Won) weird. They are workmates but he works as a variety show PD. He became close to So-Hee but he’s not a heavy drinker.

Sometimes So-Hee finds Buk-Gu so messy and unhygienic. However, along the way, she finds herself unexpectedly falling in love with this person and it’s also the same as his.

Love came along to So-Hee and finds friendship and romance in one person. Their romance is somewhat funny but they are genuinely in love. At first, So-Hee finds it hard to trust Buk-Gu fully but with the help of Ji-Yeon and Ji-Gu she overcomes her doubts.

In the end, their relationship remained strong and became best friends for life.

Work Later, Drink Now Series Musings

I expected Work Later, Drink Now to be a light drama. However, along the way, it opens up to the reality of life with its hardships. I just love the natural acting of the lead actors, making it a slice-of-life type of drama.

Moreover, I am amazed how these women can drink too much soju because I once tried it and it tasted so bitter. More than the drinking part, I can relate that a simple get-together can lighten one’s mood.

The open communication they have is essential for a strong friendship. I also like how they know each other so well even though they differ in personalities.

Furthermore, when I saw that Choi Si Won as part of the cast, I expected it to be funny and serious because of his previous dramas.

As expected, his impressive acting skills and comedic vibes that would make you want to watch the drama all day. It was nice how his character sees the beauty of So-Hee and accepted her for who she is.

All in all, everything about this drama is worth admiring because it shows the beauty of friendship and the importance of a support system in our lives.
