Choi Min Sik and Han So Hee Team Up for Korean Remake of “The Intern”

Filming is officially underway for The Intern, the highly anticipated Korean remake of the beloved 2015 Hollywood hit.

Directed by Kim Do-young (Kim Ji-young, Born 1982), the film brings together powerhouse actor Choi Min Sik and rising star Han So Hee, promising a unique blend of depth, charm, and generational chemistry.

The story follows Sunwoo (Han So-hee), the passionate CEO of fashion company Woo22, which skyrocketed to 10 billion won in sales, and Ki-ho (Choi Min-sik), a retiree who begins a new chapter as a “silver intern.” Their unexpected bond highlights the clash and harmony of two very different life stages, exploring themes of growth, empathy, and connection across generations.

With Kim Do-young at the helm—whose sensitive direction won him multiple Best New Director awards—audiences can expect a refreshing reinterpretation of the original film, tailored to Korean sensibilities and modern realities.

The ensemble cast further heightens anticipation for the film. Kim Geum Soon takes on the role of Hee-sook, who runs the company cafeteria, while Kim Jun Han plays Young-hwan, the ambitious vice president of Woo22. Ryu Hye Young portrays Min-ah, Ki-ho’s guardian and the head of the management support team, adding both warmth and sharpness to the story. Kim Yo Han steps in as Ju-seong, a fellow new recruit navigating his own challenges, and Park Ye Ni rounds out the lineup as Eugene, the company’s MD, bringing vibrancy to the workplace dynamic.

The casting of Choi Min Sik, a veteran known for his layered performances, alongside Han So Hee, who continues to prove her versatility, has already sparked major buzz. Fans are eager to see how this unexpected pairing will bring warmth, humor, and humanity to the screen.
